Re: I7-8700k + Z370 Board with Rgb and Spdif Support

For stable 5GHz+ on 8700k at a decent temperature it should be delidded and applied metallic thermal grease.
Delidding itself voids warranty of 8700k plus grizzly high end metallic grease is costly.
Even if warranty is not a issue for you, you end up paying higher for 5 GHz+ delidded chip than new one from stores.

Thatís another point why the need to push 5ghz now

If itís casual gaming or even hardcore gaming no need

Just run at 4.5-4.8 with manageable thermal under 80 deg c

Re: I7-8700k + Z370 Board with Rgb and Spdif Support

If im not wrong TrueGenius is going for a water-cooled build which will be more than capable of handling 5Ghz overclock since the water will barely top out at 60C for a fraction of a second. First of all he will not be running the overclock 24x7, only while gaming, which is fine, if he uses 100cfm+ fans on his radiators he'll be fine. I run 2x150 cfm fans on my radiator to maintain 40C peak load temperature but thats just me
