The only gripe I have about the Zii Egg is that it employs the same kind non-standard 480x320 resolution 3.5" display that iPod Touch has. I would have preferred it to have a larger 16:9 4~5" display with higher resolution. But I guess that since this a platform rather than a single device, we would soon see phones and PMP's based on this with much better screens.

@Stoned: Yes, I do! Anything that reminds me of something I don't like is a big NO. I have to admit I'm now more interested in the Zii than the Zune HD. It has an HD camera too and Android makes it a win-win situation. Take a look at this:

Well, it can run Andriod, so it already has most of the Andriod app base and even the Plasma OS is a Linux derivative, so the app scene should be decent. Besides, its a platform, not a device. The base logic board they developed can be employed to build phones, PMP's and what not. Even if we leave the app's alone, the hardware and features of the Zii Egg as a PMP are enough to justify the price tag. App's would be an added bonus.

The Developer Kit which includes the SDK, Tools and a 32GB Zii Egg can be pre-ordered for $399. The non developer versions of the Zii Egg are supposed to start at $199 in bulk for the version with no built in memory. (Of course we can add a 16GB or 32GB SDHC card)

Price: Creative’s Zii Plaszma Starter Kit plus Zii EGG 32GB costs US$399. And creative is offering the Zero GB version of the device in bulk for US$199 each.

The price tag is pretty good and the idea of giving away the SDK is also nice and shows that Creative is willing to have a community doing things for it. I guess the app scene would be good afterall since so many forums are abuzz with the new platform already. Even though I've seen enough videos by now, I really wanna check out the plasma OS for myself. Cowon has maintained a low profile off late and I'm pretty sure they're gunning to compete with the iPod touch and are working on something off the hook. It makes sense because they recently took a jab at the ipod shuffle with their E2 which actually looks very intriguing.
