This Tutorial is How to Install Xp onto your Asus Eee Pc - with ONLY a USB stick.
There are so many different versions on how to do this on the net - many of which left out important details and cost me lots of time - i decided to make one myself.

I picked up the Asus Eee Pc 4G ( Black ) over the weekend.
Rs 14,999 /- From Next Electronics ( Milan Mall , Khar - Mumbai )
They don't even charge you 2% when you use your credit card
Comes with Linux Pre Installed - No XP ( Very boring ).

Specification

Model Name Eee PC 4G
Display 7 inches
Intel CPU & Chipset Intel® Celeron M

Operating System GNU Linux Pre Installed
Ethernet Communication Yes
WLAN Yes
Memory 512 MB (DDR2)
S.S.D. Storage (Solid-State Drive) 4GB ( only )
Integrated Camera Yes
Audio Hi-Definition audio - Stereo speaker + Microphone ( Integrated )
Battery 3.5hrs*
Weight 0.92 kg*

With These specs .Is it a good idea to install Xp ?..will it run well - will it suck ? Keep going to find out.

To do what we're going to do you need :

1) USB stick ( asus recommends under 2 gb - but i used my 8 gb Trancend - will tell you how )
2) Pc running Xp already - to manipulate the usb stick.
3) USB_MultiBoot_10 - to load the xp cd onto the usb and make it bootable ( there are other progz you can use but this is the only one that worked for me - google it )
4) Original Copy of Windows XP
5) Of course - the Pc ( this works for any pc that supports Usb devices before the Os boots - the Asus Eee Pc fortunately does )

Lets Begin ?

Re: Windows Xp on Asus Eee Pc - With ONLY USB stick

Thanks all I was inspired by ]E[ !

Update : This processor is handling xp like a dream ! Really killer.
I believe it is possible to overclock it to 900 mhz - currently it comes underclocked at 630mhz - but even at 630 runs pretty warm so not sure how safe it is to overclock to 900mhz.

Getting 3 hours battery life with regular use.Surfing wirelessly , music etc etc ..
I seriously recommend this thing to guys who are:
1.Ok with not having a cd/dvd drive.
2.Fed up of lugging around heavy laptops - and are on the move a lot.
3.Ok with doing everything off an SD/MMC/USB drive.

Next thing i want to do with this is pop in more RAM (can go to 1gb max-currently its on 512 mb ) - and install Vista
One thing for sure - Super VFM !

Re: Windows Xp on Asus Eee Pc - With ONLY USB stick

Vista ? Only one way to find out

This runs pretty fast on stock settings ...managed to overclock to 900mhz under xp home - pretty decent peformance boost ! - all this with 512 mb ram ,,..

the intel graphics is just 8mb - dunno if that will stop vista from running - but looking at the speed at which xp runsim sure it could handle vista with more ram... even so dunno will have to install to check ..
