Re: Windows 7Boot Issue

Well, its probably a driver issue. Faulty drivers can cause very slow startup times.

Re: Windows 7Boot Issue

An Intel 945 has everything onboard. Driver issue shouldn't be that much of a problem.

But just to be sure you can download the latest drivers from the Intel Website.

Erm, he hasn't give the full specs of his friends system. What exactly makes you think he'll just have the mother board?

@OP Are you actually asking what to do if you have faulty drivers? Dude, just reinstall them. Thats all. Video, sound card, chipset etc etc.

Or you could boot into safemode and see where its hanging before it goes into Windows.

I remember the lack of a speedfan driver ( cuz windows classified it as malware ) caused really slow bootup times for me. That was fixed by fixing the registry.

MS had released a hotfix for Windows 7's slow startup problem. You can find it here:
Unexpectedly slow startup in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

Hm, thats interesting, but I don't think it really applies, because, to be honest, not many people know you can increase the DPI in XP itself, and the menus in Vista and 7 are different from the norm, so theyre not all that intuitive.

Last step being that you re-install the whole OS .. if that helps.

Please mention the exact version/make/type of Win 7 + any cracks etc. that you are using.

Get Registry Mechanic Pro or an equivalent. Many a times, slow boots for my computers have been rectified with fixing up the registry

Re: Windows 7Boot Issue

Can you tell where does the OS take the longest time/get stuck.

Is it
-- before the login window.
-- After the login window.
-- while loading the desktop.

Re: Windows 7Boot Issue

I suspect that there is a hidden program or a malware/spyware which takes time to load, dude the best thing will be tore install the OS and then check.
or you can try running hijack this and get back.
