Why My Computer Wakes Up from Sleep on Its Own?

Why my computer is waking from sleep on its own?

I send it to sleep mode, after sometime when I come back, its on.
Sometimes I have seen it switch on its own from sleep even when I haven't touched anything.

Currently I have following specs:
Coolermaster Thunder 600W + DH87MC Motherboard + i7-4770 + 8+8 GB Kingston HyperX + Samsung 840Pro 128 GB + Seagate 320GB + WD 500 GB + CDROM Drive + Avermedia TV Tuner Card + Asus Xonar Essence ST + MTNL broadband with DLink DSL-2750 Modem

Is my modem or internet connection doing anything????

I switched off Wake Up from LAN option in BIOS. Still it wakes up from sleep on its own.

My previous computer with Gigabyte G31M board with inter dual core E-5200 chip , 2GB DDR2 RAM + local PSU +
Following components same as above (Seagate 320GB + WD 500 GB + CDROM Drive + Avermedia TV Tuner Card + MTNL broadband with DLink DSL-2750 Modem ) + an additional graphics card Asus EAH 4350 also used to wake up on its own (from sleep mode)

That used to do it very frequently, It was rare to send it to sleep and not find it waked up on its own when returning.
My new rig has woken up only on few occassions (once maybe every 3-4 days on avg.). Old one used to wake up almost 90% of time after sending in sleep mode.

What could be this due to ??????????
How I solve this menace?

This never came to my mind......

Mouse earlier I was using Logitech G300......currently using plain Quantum laptop mouse.

Keyboard is Razer Blackwidow.
I am not sure, but I think this was not happening with my previous plain samsung pleomax keyboard.
But can't recall with certainty, whether this problem started after I got Blackwidow or before that......

So test it. Remove keyboard and mouse (1 in each step) and check.

OK.......I will.
But problem is that its so infrequent and random event, that cannot be sure even if I remove the keyboard and mouse.
In last two days, it did auto wake twice, but before that it occured about a week ago.

Hmmm..looks like your computer has evolved into a self-conscious intelligence.

Better prepare for Judgement day, son!

Re: Why My Computer Wakes Up from Sleep on Its Own?

I suspect the mouse only... happened with me due to cabinet vibration [ I've 10 fans including psu ] so placed some small rubber pads [ a part of cardboard box paper folded nicely will do] under appreciate places of the cabinet to reduce vibration and it was fixed.

I don't have any additional fans.
In my case, mouse might not be the issue as I am now using another mouse and the problem is still there.
Keyboard might be the common factor.

Currently I am testing it by removing the keyboard whenever I send my computer to sleep.
So far it has not woken up, but need to see for many more days to be sure.

go to device manager and expand the Mice and Other pointing device .. double click on the mouse you have to open the properties window .. now the power management and disable Alow the device to wake the pc .. do the same for the network card.

Ohh....Thank You so much
This was the sort of thing I was looking for.
Will disable keyboard and mouse one by one and see who the culprit is.
Disabling mouse first.........

Re: Why My Computer Wakes Up from Sleep on Its Own?

Mostly the culprits are a faulty keyboard, mouse, network card or any USB device. But sometimes, some scheduled tasks can also wake up the computer from sleep at the time of execution. See if you have any thing set up. [Though unlikely since you observe this happening at random]

Unlikely, as it has been happening with both, old and new rigs. Nothing I have scheduled and none appears in scheduler.
Also, there has been numerous format and fresh windows install on both. But problem persists.
Most likely I think its my keyboard.......
Investigation is going on.....
