Rumor Wake Up! India's Ranking on HWBOT.org is Too Low!!

Hi Guys I am creating this thread as because I feel real bad when I see my India's rank on HWBOT.org - Worldwide Overclocking League.

India is ranked 50th, with 1702.2 points and 79 participating overclockers. Country ranking - India

India's current position is only 50th among 135 other countries!! d_b What guys?? We are 100 Cores and more than 1L people are power users in here still only 79 Overclockers registered there? And just look at the scores all are too Low...

Except
1. 416.20 thebanik
2. 334.10 Harsh al
3. 184.10 Raja
4. 104.00 RoBoGhOsT
5. 95.20 pr@$r1g
6. 56.90 Toolius
8. 38.30 Amey
9. 34.80 trijesh313
10. 30.20 KiD0M4N

These guys are great and all are doing their part. So why can't others?

Wake up guys!! You should be ashamed of India's performance in this never ending League. We all have our Gears to fight in this battle and we are quite capable enough at this moment to get India to at least top 10 position.

Post your views and also I will request mods to make it Sticky.

All members now don't just read posts and comment and bla bla bla!!

Post there in HWBOT.org and make India proud show world what we are!! I am doing my part so you all should do your part!!

There are many teams in HWBOT.org be a part of them and Rock! I might seem noobie but thats all I wanted to say!! Bhabnao ko samjho...words me kya likka hai!!

It's Fun, competitive, satisfactory, destructive, full of frustration, knowledgeable, and sometimes rewards are also there. (Many company rewards the OCers as you all know and there are championships on OCing too guys!!)

Banik is world no 203 at HWbot BTW. Also a lot of the people on those lists dont seriously clock anymore. (like KiD0M4N)

Unfortunately overclocking is not big in India till now. We should try to do more to promote it.

Re: Wake Up! India's Ramking on HWBOT.org is Too Low!!

Normal air Overclocking wont help much on hwbot. Sub-zero cooling is what will help the rankings. Unfortunately only a handful of people play with LN2/Dice in India, and even among them only a couple at max regularly bench on LN2, others have done it once or twice, till the time this changes, ranking would remain same.....(ofcourse playing with old hardware can also get points)

Though with Sandybridge, all this can change. And even air overclockers can get huge points if luck favors them

Re: Wake Up! India's Ramking on HWBOT.org is Too Low!!

Even though there are 1.1billion people in India, very few ( relatively ) have access to computers and small portion of them have access to tech sites, and an even smaller portion actually overclock. And like Banik said, a minute portion out of those overclockers actually use DICE/LN2 which matters on HWBOT.

Re: Wake Up! India's Ramking on HWBOT.org is Too Low!!

At least India has some rank when it comes to OCing...whereas it doesnt even register anywhere when it comes to modding. And its not because of lack of resources but rather of promotion and will. I had the honor of attending the BYOC B'lore, and I saw rigs there which must have costed upwards of 50k to build. I remember seeing a test bed too that was atleast 3-4k. What I don't understand is that people are willing to spend 10k plus on a chassis that is mass produced, and more to buy aftermarket parts to add the bling, but will not spend to build anything on their own.
I saw rigs lined up with nothing to distinguish them from each other. Its not a question of money, nor of time but of will and misapprehension, and so far nothing major has been done to change that. So far, there must have been tons of OCing contests, but none for modding. The mentality being that any such thing would see very low participation- isn't that circular reasoning? How can there be any participation when the ground work of creating awareness has not been undertaken by anybody?

Why can't there be a modding contest on E with say a prize of a 2gb pen drive that costs about 200-300 bucks? Its not about the prize of course, but at least more people will know that there's something called modding, and its not synonymous with installing a CCFL or WC kit in their rig? Even if someone asks a question about modding, I see that apart from a few regular people, no one else answers, and before you know it, the thread has vanished from the list because of constant updates in either the Spam thread or EUTS or Deals.

Please, do not let modding languish behind the scenes. Do your bit and promote it- at least that way, there is a chance that you don't have to wait for a GO to get MDPC sleeving.

See, modding is mostly a 1 man show of skills and ideas anyways. And what kind of promotion are you talking about??? You think hosting a modding competition would somehow make modders out of general members??? Even internationally there are very few modding competition. But there is one modding competition(which is yearly btw) hosted by CoolerMaster right now with prize money worth $15000 which is open to Indians, but I am sure response from India would be very poor just like previous years.
Even internationally if you go to a Lan event, 99% of the rigs will be standard cases, so nothing different there.

Re: Wake Up! India's Ramking on HWBOT.org is Too Low!!

It all comes down to how interested people are in such things. The fact that a lot can go wrong while overclocking is a bit discouraging. Modding takes a lot of man hours, and unless you really love doing it, I dont think everyone is willing to invest so much time and effort. Not to mention the skill involved, which comes only from experience. To gain experience you need to mod a lot and that again is going to cost in terms of money and time. Its more or less the same with overclocking. From what I've obeserved, the crowd that is more enthuastic about modding and overclocking are generally in the late teens, or early twenties, who are still in college or just out of college and find money hard to come by. But Im optimistic that this trend will change over time.

I guess I'm done with my economics class on modding and overclocking.

Damn nice summary, completely agree, people who seem to be interested in modding and overclocking, do not have money. People who have money are not interested in these niche hobbies,
