Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

Since few days I'm getting very slow boot and slow read write speeds like 25 mb/sec when I copy from C drive to D drive. Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I already tried reinstalling Windows 7 but no good

HD Tune Pro shows no errors. One HDD is Samsung 148 GB and other is Seagate 500 GB. Getting same problem on both hard disks. Could it be faulty cables?

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

Yes it could be cables ( But I don't think so..) coz the tests show it to be ok..
But the connectors can be wrong, test the different connectors on the mobo.

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

I tried two different connectors on the mobo already. Any more suggestions? Could it be that the PSU cables are faulty?

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

If the power cables were faultythen the hdd would not give good health and or have a corrupted file system

I would suggest a full format and that too of the low level kind and then repartitioning and installation..

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

I don't think that will fix it either as I have the same problem on two different hard disks. I will try another hard disk and see if that too faces the same problem. If it does, then obviously, there is something wrong with the PC, like faulty motherboard, wires etc

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

1. Cables are shot.
2. Not enough power is being provided (amps too low).
3. Motherboards NB/SB has degraded.

Agreed with these two, Just like old systems.
BTW i will recommend first try those HDD on some else system with same cables and then diff cables. You will get an idea of culprit !!!!

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

NB / SB means north bridge and south bridge.... these are chips on mobo, North bridge connects CPU to Main memory and Graphic controllers where as South bridge connects CPU to low speed buses and LAN , audio devices....

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

The problem is that I do not have the resources to do the diagnostics to figure out the culprit. The most I can do is to bring my PC to a computer service centrer at nehru place. Will they be able to fix it? I mean will they be able to diagnose the problem?

Re: Very Slow Read/write Speeds and Slow Boot Too

They may be able to get the problem fixed, but from very early I have never had full trust on service centers. I feel they charge for things that even you may be able to do at home + they don't completely solve your problem+delay in service etc.So I only visit them to buy spare parts and unless it is impossible for me to do anything. But there might good service centers who are trust worthy. So I would suggest to look for very trust worthy service center
