Using GPRS/EDGE in International Roaming ?

Has anyone used GPRS/EDGE
while in International
roaming. If yes then which
Indian network provider was
that and are there any
additional charges ?
I just asked the airtel
customer care and they say
there are no separate charges
for using GPRS / EDGE in
roaming, unlike the call rates
which are usually sky high (Rs
100 / min outgoing)
If anyone has used, please
share your experience here.

You're better off buying a local sim in the country you're going to.. Chances are the rates will be better, and you'll be able to use full 3G.

Are the cc nuts
The only thing free or technically the same cost is oncoming SMS which is free
Data rates are 5 bucks per ten kb
This year it has been consistent across the world
I did Munich Stockholm shanghai and Sydney with this flat rate
However data packs with 10mb a day are available for a flat rate
I have never bothered but you might enquire about the same
This is for Vodafone
Airtel has same rates no idea about the data packs though

Its virtually impossible that there would be no extra charges when using data in international roaming. Better not use it, it might burn a big hole in your pocket

Re: Using GPRS/EDGE in International Roaming ?

Whoever told you that there were no extra charges for GPRS international roaming were either nuts or didn't catch the "international" part. International roaming is very expensive..e.g. it can be as high as 14$ per mb. but it depends on various factors.. Which area your sim is from, which country you are visiting, which operator's network you are using, etc. Some combinations may even turn out to be cheaper than India rates lol..
check this site to see the exact tariff: http://www.airtel.in/wps/wcm/connect...stp_roaming_ir
