I wont say that it is a must buy, but i am also planning ~ same config for myself. But i got 620W, because i felt tat it can be a good investment. These PSU are so good that, it can be used even for ur next urgrade. PSU and cabinet are the items i think that could be used for long term. So i went on to invest on it.
Someone with more knowledge will comment for this.. Please check the number of output cables from the 620W are too many. i felt there where too many to feel comfortable to hide.
----------overall, always keep ur budget in mind, and be ready to tradeoff few things.

Thermaltake's power calculator is saying that my peak load (after oc ing) is gonna be 542W. So, I think a 550W psu would be enough.

So can you guys recommend a good 550W psu which costs less than 5k ?

Playing FarCry and Hardtruck: Apocalypse for 6~7 hrs continuously (fatigue) forced me to develop that skill. But I'm not that fast on my left compared to the right though.

I think Seasonic has a ECO600 PSU which costs around 4.3k.

@marX,

Couple of questions to you:

1. what are all your upgrade plans right after this three month plan. Any SSDs, additional HDDs?
2. Are you going to OC?

FSP makes some good 80+ Gold PSUs in that rated power range. I believe one of our forum members bought a Aurum 500 and was very pleased with quality. Seasonic is FSP's OEM in the Gold rated PSUs, so you're covered there.

Otherwise Corsair's GS/VS/TX series or Antec ones are good and reliable.

Hi Buddy,

how much fps will you go for? I have always seen people by common never cross 27 to 30. Anything beyond 30 will certainly make the procy scream rather than the GPU!!!

BTW, I just read the review of Crysis 3 and they say a minimum of Intel i5 3xxx + AMD 7870LE needed for playing it at max eye candy !

Re: Three Month, Full on Upgrade Plan :P 45K. THEME: Power Efficiency

Crysis 3 requires you to have some fast hardware if you want to crank the settings all the way up. I played it in 1440p, and it lags quite a bit on very high settings (without AA) on my GTX580. So I notched it down to high settings and it was fine.

I must add that even in high/medium settings the game looks absolutely gorgeous. If you think Far Cry 3 was amazing, you should see this one. I wish the same could be said about the story though Q__Q

I think since you are going to use multi-threaded applications you need to consider this config which is very VFM:

AMD FX 8350 -11400,
Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0 -7100,
Sapphire HD7850 2GB -13500,
WD Black 500GB -3500,
Corsair GS500 -4300,
Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz -3000,
NZXT Source 210 Elite -2900,
Logitech Gaming Combo G100 -1500,
Logitech Z313 -1500,
Dell 22" ST2220L LED -8000,
Asus 24B5ST DVDRW -1000.
TOTAL -57,700.

The above config though pricey will stand for at least 5 years and more.

I beg to differ here. With hardware generation cycles not lasting even 2 full years, it's a tough call. If OP can live with playing games in low detail and a little hiccup here and there then no problem. I don't think HD7850 is going to last more than 2 years if you want eye candy in your games.
BULLZI and marX like this.

Its already outdated according to Crysis 3 lol

BTW, one thing I care the most is power efficiency. Thats why I'm not interested in an AMD processor at the moment.
What I'm planning.....is to wait for Haswell and Kaveri.
As for GPU, a 7870LE is the minimum...or I'll go for a used 7850 and upgrade to the 88xx (98xx ?) when it arrives.

Agree. 7850 just won't cut it. May be a 7970 might do it !
