Suggest Moi an AC!

Hey guys, Summers are coming :D (yeah, I like summers)
Suggest me an air-conditioner. I currently have a Samsung Silver Nano 2.0 Ton window, but would like to move to a split. How much can I expect from the resale of this though?

I am looking to buy a 1.5 ton split (I guess 2 ton not needed, if yes, please suggest) My room is around 300 square feet, with a small passage which is around 50 sq ft which also acts as an exit of air due to the open door. I like in Kolkata, and it gets pretty darn hot here reaches 45+ at times :|
So, suggest me something, budget well it''s flexible. I guess teh 5 stars are not worth it :P

Last query, regarding the installation of the outdoor unit of the split AC, can It be installed on the exterior building wall? I mean to does it need to serviced too? If yes, the position will be tricky to reach.

That's about it, please advise. Thank you.

yes, the outdoor needs servicing too. and no, 1.5T will keep running forever. and no, 5 stars are not pointless.

Re: Suggest Moi an AC!

forgot to mention, The ac doesn't run overnight during summers. It runs intermittently during the whole day. for 1-2 hours every 1-2 hours. Effectively 7 hours a day max during peak summer times. In this prospect I thought 5 stars wouldn't break even within any reasonable time.

Anyway, what do you suggest? @baba doga

hatt ja tau paache ne!

onida slh-5 is the 1.5T beast that has close to 2T wale BTU. and the EER can make you cry. it is also the largest sized AC in it's category.

good luck finding it. and yeah, it cost us 28.5k or something last year.

EER can make you cry? :O din get you... and are you suggesting this model? S18SLH5 (1.5 Tr) - Price: Rs 32,990/- http://www.onida.com/products.aspx?prodcat=4

Well, these are all around 27-28 right? The cheapest 1.5 Ton I am getting is a Videocon split. It's for only 18 grand, and my uncle got it in an offer 3 months back for 15K only! Any advice regarding this AC?

Also, I see voltas recommendations repeating, how are the prices and the cooling?

@RajaPraveen, General, does it still make new models? O.o Daikin...well would love to, but seeing online reviews and all seems like it's overpriced. (Yeah, I know Macs are overpriced too, but still dunno why I got it lol!) How's daikin vs carrier vs hitachi (the up segment guys)

Lastly, I have read some nice comments in some other sites regarding Panasonic, how's that?

EDIT:
http://www.generalindia.com/hi_wall_splits.html# just checked this, over here are the specs: http://www.generalindia.com/hi_wall_...ification.html
The EER IS 10!! Is that the same unit in which all other manufacturers state their EER? or it's different?

Re: Suggest Moi an AC!

General has their standard models and they do change, why change when you have a product which is excellent.

Only other aircon which is as good ad General or better is Daikin and this Panasonic, Hitachi or carrier are not match to both these aircon.

Re: Suggest Moi an AC!

Even Mumbai is going to have a HOT summer I guess as we enjoyed a long winter this time :) You could go for a 1.5 ton split AC as you are saying you have a passage. My outdoor unit is fixed on a grill box the Company guys fitted outside my window on the wall. You can go for a 3 star one also which will give you some savings in electricity bills.
I have a Blue Star 1 ton split AC with a 5 Star rating and I didn't mind spending on the star thingie as it has helped in my bills when I compare them to the earlier AC I had...

Re: Suggest Moi an AC!

Okay guys BUMPING THIS THREAD! my 2 ton has totally lost it. I have to get an AC ASAP!
Budget not an issue.

Are the Daikin Inverters worth? What are the prices like? Should I get a 2 ton or 1.5 ton? SPLIT only. For my ambient conditions, please check OP.
Suggest some good ac for good energy savings and cooling for around 350 sq feet room.
Thanks.

Re: Suggest Moi an AC!

do the walls face sun? if yes, 2 tonne w/o doubt.

as far as which one : i am myself very very confused. i need two a/cs, 1 and 1.5 tonne, but i dont want to pay too much :P

diakin does not come with copper turbing etc. in delhi, that stuff costs 180/ft. means 1700 easy. plus installation cost of 1500.
