Suggest a Good Monitor For Gaming

Hi Friends

Please Suggest Some Monitor For Gaming. 22inch and above

I would like to Replace my DELL 2240T Touch Monitor.
My PC Config is there in My Signature.
Budget for Monitor Would be around 15K.

and above all is it Really a Good Move if i Buy a IPS Display Over VA or TN??? VA & TN are Cheaper i guess.
Will it Have any better Advantages Over either???
as far as i Know VA is Better than TN and IPS is Better than VA.

My main Need would be it should have a DVI Port. having HDMI or DP will add more Advantage.

Going for a 1200p will be a Good/wise Move????

Do answer the POLL Question as well

Thanks in Advance

i know my input is very much worthless here as you already know much more than me but still...

i'm using 2312hm... pretty impressed with it.
do check out those 'edge to edge' monitors... they works wonderful in multi monitor setup, although i dont know about the quality comparatively.

I have 2407-HC running on S-PVA panel. You dont get them now. Try to look for an H-IPS panel or an IPS panel. Colors look more vivid and viewing angles are good but wont matter as your would be playing at a straight angle.

Re: Suggest a Good Monitor For Gaming

I would advise an IPS anel from Dell.
Have got them for friends ( although I am not using one ) but the screen and the colors are indeed superb to look at and enjoy.

true that the viewing angle feature of ips panel wont matter in gaming, but while playing multiplayer games like fifa it can matter(i do play alot of that), also i do use my monitor to watch movies in a room pack full of friends, ips serves best in that too.

P.S.: a combo a logitech k400r + ips panel + good speakers(mine HK soundsticks III) + popcorn n cold drink and you feel like you are in a theater with friends

Re: Suggest a Good Monitor For Gaming

I would recommend Dell Ultrasharp Monitors since you not only get IPS Panel but also a sturdy stand which can support heigh adjustment, swivel & Tilt.

Dell U2410 Cost 18k locally, but does come with DVI-D, VGA, HDMI & DP, but the lower end model U2312HM cost 13k but doesn't have HDMI.

Re: Suggest a Good Monitor For Gaming

I ve been using an H-IPS 1200p monitor since 2010 and even thou I'd like to, I haven't found a monitor I could upgrade to. Infact, instead of getting an E-IPS or an AH-IPS, I'd prefer getting another U2410. But that's just me and I'm still too broke for a new monitor.

For someone new to IPS, I'd suggest you checkout the Advanced High Performance IPS (AH-IPS) panels (with improved colour accuracy, increased resolution and PPI, and greater light transmission for lower power consumption). They are fairly new and were initially made for the portable devices by LG. But there are quite a few PC monitors with AH-IPS, already on sale in the US and they should hit our shores anytime now.

Why AH-IPS, well, I'm not 100% sure as they are still pretty new and not much info out there. But, they are suppose to be better than E-IPS and still not as expensive as H-IPS to make. Few say, they may be closer to H-IPS than E-IPS can ever be.

Check out the P2214H (21.5"), P2314H (23"), P2414H (24") and P2714H (27") on Dell US site. They come with AH-IPS... may even come with true eight-bit color depth and 1.07 billion colors. Contrast will still be limited to 1000:1 with is not bad really.

Also, they are ~60Hz (like the U2410 H-IPS) and wont ever be suitable for 3Ding. Then again, 3D is still primitive and needs to mature, before I'd can srsly consider advising em.

Yes display quality wise(i.e colors and viewing angles), it is good to from TN to VA to IPS. IPS panel offers better color accuracy and viewing angles. But they are usually not as fast as compared to a TN panel. VA panels are in between them, they offer better viewing angles and color accuracy over TN and better response time over IPS.
These days more and more people are going with IPS displays even for gaming, because the difference between the response time between IPS and TN is not that much notable, but the difference in quality of IPS panel over TN is.
Going with a 120Hz monitor is actually a waste if your rig can not achieve 120FPS in most games. With a Single GTX 670 i don't think that it would be possible. You'll most probably be getting frame rates of around 60, so investing in a 120Hz monitor would not be worth it IMHO.

If reflection is not a big issue for you and you want to with a glossy panel, you should g for this

Please provide a link to the full specs.
