SSD Under 6K, Need Help

  • Budget: Max 5k (oops the title says 6k. its a typo, forgot to double check)
  • Existing hardware setup: SATA III capable motherboard
  • Components from the existing setup that you intend to keep: 500GB Blue drive for Games and important stuff, 2TB for multimedia & iso.
  • Plans to upgrade in the future: Nope.
  • Places from where you will buy components along with your location: Online
  • Are you comfortable with buying secondhand components from the Erodov market? : Depends on age and price.
  • Intended use of the PC [gaming/office use/rendering/HD playback etc] : Mostly gaming and some programming. NO multimedia editing.
  • Brand preferences: Anyone who give reliable warranty.
  • Which OS will you use?: Windows 8.1 or 10 with Linux(s). Will be using EFI.

Here is a list of 120/128GB SSD from major online shops available in 29th jan 2015. I want to keep the cost close to 4k but willing spend an extra 1k ONLY if it worth in real world performance. What's your suggestion?

I got a 240GB Corsair Force for 6k from a local guy recently, which i intend for using for my installed game data. I'd suggest a Samsung Evo or Samsung 840 120GB for that budget if you want to purchase new.

What about Transcend SSD370, its 700rs cheaper than 840evo. But what is the difference in real world performance? Is it like DDR3 1333 vs 1600, big difference in benchmark and hardly any difference in real world.

Don't put the 1333 vs 1600 analogy of RAMs in SSDs. SSDs have a completely different structure and use a variety of controllers from different vendors, depends on the brand. I suggested Samsung because they have a done a lot of research in making their own controllers, plus the reviews are good too.

I don't generally get along with Transcend because I had a bad experience during RMA of a DDR3 RAM I had. It's not that they didn't accept it, just that they had completely shut down their RMA service (in Mumbai), don't know if they've resumed back again or not.
