SSD Partition

So, I went through Google University on this topic " SSD partition- pros and cons", in which I need our Eonians' extension of their experiences.
Actually, I have an old Thinkpad T420 which supports an mSATA. For a long time I have been using it with a 2TB mech HDD along with a 180Gb Intel SSD (on DVD bay). It was good, so far. Due to a bad and sticking habit of collecting free movies, I need another expansion of a mech HDD. So I sold out the 2.5" SSD and planning to switch to mSATA.
My Eonians, I would like to partition the mSATA SSD, whichever I install on my machine, one room for Micro$oft Windows and another partition for a good linux distro.
Is it a good option to partition an mSATA SSD for Windows and Linux ( NTFS + EXT4) dual boot?
Thanks for reading this and for your valuable opinion, shared experience.

Re: SSD Partition

I have earlier used mSATA SSD for dual boot. In my case, Windows is on a 128GB mSATA SSD and everything else (grub2, Ubuntu other stuffs) is on the 500GB spinner.

Also I think, your Thinkpad T420 mSATA is SATA II where as the HDD is SATA III.

Thanks for the response but my doubt is about partitioning the mSATA SSD into NTFS and EXT4 for dual boot. Sata 2/3 interface is not an issue for me. This T420 is Sata 2, that I know.

Re: SSD Partition

I don't know about the Toshiba one. I am using a TOSHIBA HDD and its performing well. As for the mSATA, a quick google search brought some good reviews of it. So I think you can go for it as 3.5k for 256GB one is just awesome.

Re: SSD Partition

Finally managed to get my Toshiba (THNSFJ256GMCT) and I exactly partioned it. 160GB NTFS for Windows 7 and remaining for TAHR Puppy . No linux swap, nor system partition for windows. Did some adjustments for SSD (maintenance). Bingo ! Running on oiled wheels and I am happy as a puppy !
I will update my experience on two different partitions after some use.
Thanks everyone for your valuable inputs.
