Re: Solder Like a Pro

I was actually thinking of trying to build a good Solid State amp, since I already have a good tube amp!

I learned basic electronics and how to be an Avionic Navigation Specialist in the US Air Force, then I repaired navigation systems on aircraft. I am a technology freak, I love to lean about technology and make improvements on our present way of doing things.

I tried to do a good job of painting pitchers with my wording. My article has almost no fluff in it. To keep you glued to your seat and reading, I give you one bit of important information after another. But I do see a need for a video mostly because people would rather watch than read. I think I look horrible on camera, but I might do a video someday.

A plug got damaged on a fan in my house. I took a $1.50 6 foot extension cord and diked off the female end. I got out my solder iron and some heat shrink, and now I have a much more useful fan with a 12 foot cord.
I have a son that designs and test RC jets. He uses his iron so often, he carries it in his tool box with him.
It IS very difficult to work on the smaller circuits, but I have a good imagination and an adventurous spirit, and have no trouble finding lots of uses for my iron.

Don't forget PC modding. Hooking up multiple fans, fixing borked connectors, removing plugs from motherboards and extending wires.

Even folks that need to mod motherboards and GPUs for extreme overclocking need to be soldering rockstars.

I agree. Once you learn to use a solder iron, lots of options will open up. There are so many things you can do with a solder and an iron, we could fill pages up listing them.
