remove all HDDs
remove all cd/dvd drived or any card readers etc....
remove GPU
maybe also remove all extra fans xD

try to start computer, and if it does go to bios and check CPU temps

Looks like a mobo power issue. Make sure your power switch to the mobo is working properly.

Sorry to hear that. You said you had an issue with the sata port or sata cable? Have you tried using the same cable with another sata port? May be the sata port has gone bad, the cable is ok?

tried changing the sata cables.. didnt help.. which means the old sata cables were fine
actually wen i first removed the sata cable frm the dvd rw n restarted the pc it worked.. did it 2-3 times n it worked.. so i thot the issue was solved..

Remove the sata cable from the sata port and give a try. I think the sata port might be the issue.

Try giving some kind of a power jolt to revive it.

I Do that to my company PC which behaves in a similar fashion. I just unplug the monitor and plug it back in and voila.. my CPU starts.don't ask me how or why this works.

p.s. I have not raised for the PC to be replaced as it has my precious goldminer and billiards shockwaves which have become hot property ever since my odc folks came up with a new curfew policy against data in or out.

Once my biostar motherboard's south bridge is gone bad
so my system is showing exactly same type of behavior as your pc
