Re: Help Us Build 2high End Rendering Machines Within This Budget

The build looks good. But as @hawk said, IB is only a week or two away. Wouldn't you like to see how the chip performs against the current batch of SB and SB-E processors before taking a plunge?

As far as I am concerned ( Though I have no prior experience in rendering and workstation level work), SB-E does not have any significant advantage over normal SB, except for the quad channel memory interface. It hogs more power, generates more heat and what not.

Please do not take this post as a deterrant, I simply do not want to invest in something which isn't proper value for money. In my opinion, SB-E is not.

I'd say :

1. Core i7-3770K
2. Asus Z77-WS or equivalent, maybe a Gigabyte Z77-UD5 or MSI Z77A-GD65
3. Good 16 Gigs of RAM (G-Skill/Corsair/Kingston, take your pick).
4. A good SSD, probably the Force 3/GT or even Vertex 4 if you get one. Else look for newer Intel SSDs.
5. For graphics, your call. Either AMD FirePro or Nvidia Quadro. You can even consider desktop class mid range graphics cards, say a AMD 7850 or a Nvidia GTX660 (when it releases).
6. Should get a good power supply. AX-750 is a good deal, and will give you some good headroom as well for future expansions, though I don't think this system will draw anywhere close to this power from wall.
7. Monitor/Keyboard and other peripherals - Dell has some good professional grade monitors, but be warned, their Ultrasharp range has gone through some changes lately and they have introduced lower grade E-IPS which doesn't give you a quality as their earlier models, using S-IPS or H-IPS.
Keyboard, mouse - nothing fancy, look for some good mechanical keyboards and a good mouse (non-gaming ones).

Hope this suffices!

Re: Help Us Build 2high End Rendering Machines Within This Budget

i think i will wait for the IB launch now and see how rates drop for the SB or SBE generation
after reading on the net i seems there is just 20 - 30 percent increase in performance and it has been launched already yesterday in europe. dont know when it launches in india

Get a better power-supply module.

The Cooler Master GX 750 has some major flaws (CLICK TO READ THE REVIEW)

I'd personally recommend getting the Corsair TX 750 (CLICK TO READ THE REVIEW)

--

Uh.. G.Skill Vengeance? 8-gigs of RAM for Rs 9000 sounds like a bad deal. I could get twice as much for that.

sorry about the G skill vengeance blunder..its some G skill ram and i am getting 8gb @ 4700 so 9000 for 16Gb and not 8gb.
I will go for the power supply recommended by you.
What about monther board. is it good and relaiable? that is my major concern. and i hope 2700K is the best bet in that budget.

Thanks

Screw the i7 2700K

Opt for the i7 2600K which offers roughly the same performance, at a lower cost.

Uh... is this the board you were referring to?
Yes, it's reliable & durable.

The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is my personal favorite. You can grab em' around Rs. 2000.

2600K he says has been discontinued by intel so he doesnt have it. but if 2700k is also similar and not major price difference i can go for 2700K also.
i will send that mobo link sent by you , just to confirm if its the same. thanks again for ur time.
After market means second hand? otherwise i can tell the vendor itself to arrange that for me. i am in chandigarh and its hard to get stuff here. Lynx has also stopped his business.

Thanks

Intel hasn't discontinued the processor :/

Aftermarket simply means something that you would buy and install after the initial purchase. That is to say, it didn't come with the original purchase.

The Seasonic S12II-620 is a great power supply module.
Alternatively, you could also get an Antec module. They're top-class, most of the time.
