The PSP Buy Guide

The PSP Buy Guide

1.> GET PSP Slim only [any version dont worry]
Cost : 8.5~9K [I got for 8.5K]
[dont worry about warranty as when u flash with ahem firmware the warranty is void]

2.> Get Original Seal packed Memory Stick [ONLY]
2GB - 2.3K , 4GB - 3.1K [Get normal or the M2 ones]
[These are the prices that i got might vary from place to place , just
take care that it's seal packed and you get bill and warranty]
[Why seal packed? coz the fake ones keep corrupting the data and are useless on the PSP]

3.> Where to buy from [I know only about Mumbai]

There is
1. Alfa - Irla [Between Vile Parle and Andheri]
2. Croma
3. Ninja Traders
4. Origin Games - Inorbit Malls [Malad]

I got mine from Cell Point 4 Bunglows Andheri West.

Many shops have the PSP Slim.

4.> Those who say PSP Slim's not arrived here give them a tight slap
[What more can i say , I stay in Mumbai and i got one here only in Mumbai]
[Even Croma Andheri had one but was out of stock and they told me to come in the evening but i got one from other shop the same day]

5.> PSP Downgrade Guide.
[Its complicated so ask some experienced guy to help you out or get ask if the store guys flashes it for you]
Those who can take risks heres the guide: Guide To PSP Downgrading
[Thanks spacescreamer]

6.> Identifying Original Memstick.
Insert the memstick in ur PSP and start ur PSP
Goto > Video > Memorycard > Press Triangle > click on information
If Magicgate = Supported is shown then its Original.
Anything other than supported is shown then its fake.
Eg. Magicgate = Unknown , then its fake 1000000%

7.> Get a scratch guard to protect the screen
Got mine for 400Rs [Cost varies from 350 to 500]

Re: The PSP Buy Guide

I havent tried divx , xvid in mp4 container.

I have successfully tried.

1.> Mpeg4 + mp3 in .mp4
2.> H.264 AVC + Nero AAC in .mp4

If i get time will write a simple guide on how to encode videos for PSP.

PSP Slim which you get from the market will be mostly

3.60 or 3.71 firmware.

You have to flash it to 3.71 M33-2 to which is the best i feel.
It can play all the ISO's from my memstick.

But i didnt flash it myself , went completely crazy after reading the guides
and it was complicated so thought that someone experienced might
help me flash.

Actually if u know nuke666 he helped me out with the flashing process.

Guys if u have any queries related to the flashing process dont ask me plz
as i really dont know and dint bother to know about it as its COMPLICATED.

nice guide bro! In addition to the screen guard, one can also purchase the "Logitech PSP PlayGear Pocket":

It is around Rs. 650 at Spencer Plaza, Chennai.

This one also looks good. It has memory stick holding space which the Logitech case lacks.
@Quaddy, you can put the info about these 2 cases in the main thread. Here's the official link to the logitech case:
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/ga...s/305&cl=us,en

BTW, i am not sure if these cases would work for PSP Slim as the placement of some ports have been changed in PSP Slim. Also, since PSP slim is slimmer it would not fit in perfectly in these caes and would be somewhat loose.
