Re: Power Your DSL Modem Using USB

==============================
if u have desktop pc, u can get the power from smps 5v, just two wires, ground and yellow will do.
==============================

It seems that you suggested yellow wire for 5v, isn't it?

for 5v, USB connections will do.

Re: Power Your DSL Modem Using USB

You need like 100 ma for such devices.

Using USB s much much safer because even if you short the output wires, the current is limited and you cannot burn much.

Re: Power Your DSL Modem Using USB

Is it 9V AC or DC?

and if you can then open your modem and see if it runs on 5 V internally.

Re: Power Your DSL Modem Using USB

If your 9V DC is NOT regulated (exactly 9v) then a step down arrangment has to be made in the final device. Unregulated 9V adapter will give like 12 V DC on no load.

What is your exact modem model?

Re: Power Your DSL Modem Using USB

If you can find someone with soldering skills then I can tell you a way to make a two in one USB + Mains power supply.

You will need this. http://www.usb-cable.com/assets/images/IMG_1545685.jpg (USB cable extension)
