Please Help!! CPU Running Too Hot!

Hey guys,

I have a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T proccy, it is running >55 C @idle. All the cores have the same temp as well. I never OC, and I dont want to either.

Please suggest a CPU cooler for around 3k. My mobo is: MSI 890GXM-G65 and I have CM 430 Cabby.

Thanks!

Re: Please Help!! CPU Running Too Hot!

^^ what are your ambient temps? and how well is the stock heatsink fitted?

Before freaking out, and jumping for a CPU cooler or anything, get these basics cleared.

Are you sure as you are mentioning it as 50 to 61 Celsius? :fridgeraid:as I think it should be 50-61 farenheit.

Re: Please Help!! CPU Running Too Hot!

@Op

1. What did you use to measure temps? The measuring software may be faulty. Try using Core temp.
2. Did you overclock the processor?
3. Were you doing some heavy cpu related work such as encoding/decoding?
4. The room doesnt has AC, that means ambient is 30-35C? In that case, the temps are on the higher side. You are using stock cooler right?
Delhi gest really hot in summers. You will need an aftermarket cooler if you want to get emps real low.
5. Have you checked the mounting of the heatsink along with TIM applied properly?
6. If you are doing heavy cpu related work and temps go to 61C, its not something you should really worry. Temps are fine.

@ServerExperts

I have used 2-3 tools to measure temps of cpu/motherboard/gfx card till now and everywhere the reading is in C not F. So I doubt if the problem is due to measuring unit.

1. I used AIDA64 and AMD OverDrive to confirm.
2. NO I didnt OC.
3. No the PC is idle.
4. Yes I am using stock cooler.
5. I have not checked but the I think its OK.
6. No the PC is idle.

UPDATE: I switched to BALANCED MODE and temps dropped around 5-6 C and came down to 37 C on Power Saving MODE. Is that ok ?

I have decided on this after market cooler: Cooler master Hyper 212 Plus(RR-B10-212P-G1)

Hows this ?

Or would this be a better choice: Cooler Master Hyper N620 CPU Cooler

Hyper 212 is a great cooler. Go with it. But the temps are in the higher side.

Re: Please Help!! CPU Running Too Hot!

Check out for the below
TIM dried out...
Dust clogged up on the heatsink/case
Use coretemp to monitor the temps.
Run a prime95 cpu stress and check load temps for a min.
