Later regretted as these sound just to good for the price. Just days back I happened to be at Lamington road and spotted these nestled in a corner in one shop. On enquiry I found that the shopkeeper had no clue about these headphones and was selling it coz the connection cable had gone bad (a common problem with the 8900). So I bought all 5 psc that he had. If youre looking to invest 2k in a headphone please dont miss these! Cheers!

Re: Philips SHP8900/97 Headphones (DIAMONDS FOR A DIME)

Can someone put the pictures of both ends of the cable required to make it working?

Isn't it available online?

Good quality ones are not availble online on indian sites. You can get the cheapo ones at local shops that carry local speakers/lighting etc. I picked one up for about 80 bucks yesterday.

You will have to shave some bit of the rubber/plastic on the 2.5mm side of the connector on these ones though as they dont fit into the headphones otherwise due to the locking fitment on the headset.

The headphones themselves are amazing though. They truly are like mini speakers. Im using them with a xonar essence stx soundcard.

Re: Philips SHP8900/97 Headphones (DIAMONDS FOR A DIME)

@drkrack just contact any of your nearest audio shops and ask for a replacement cable for the shure SRH440 monitors. That cable fits exactly to shape.

Re: Philips SHP8900/97 Headphones (DIAMONDS FOR A DIME)

I got mine too
In excellent condition,
Found a 2.5 to 3.5 compatible cable
It's very hard to insert at headphones end. Anyways working fine, treble isn't too my liking, bass is just ok. Unparalleled details, I haven't heard anything off late with such purity of audio reproduction.

Will give some burn in and connect to headphones amp and see, sounds especially bass sounds very tiny compared to My regular Denons.
More than worth the price paid.

Re: Philips SHP8900/97 Headphones (DIAMONDS FOR A DIME)

@drkrack: you'll have to eq a bit to hit that special point.
These won't shine unless you are amping coz they are power hungry. Bass is not boomy but its extremely tight and well rounded. Anyway, glad you're enjoying yours! Cheers!
Oh and please do leave feedback so that I can close the thread!
