Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

Hey guys, I have an AMD Phenom II X2 555 proccy unlocked to 4 core B55 processor. It is about a year and a half old and its 1-2 months since i am facing these heat problems..
The processor idles at about 52-54 degrees with utorrent running and a few apps.
Some amount of usage and it shoots to 65 minimum and any intensive work say converting a video reaches 75+ and reaches 80 and pc shuts down as it is expected to.

I was using CM Silent series case fans but one of them went kaput since then these problems. Today I got some generic case fans 120mm and they move same or maybe more amt of air than cm silent series but the trouble persists. The hdd and mobo and other temps are fine..Please check attatched image

What should I do? reapplying the TIM? I am weary of doing that as I have never done it before and i might mess it up even more.

Some help guys! Thanks as always

SOLVED:
To anyone who ends up in similar situation. I solved the problem. Just removed the heatsink, removed fan, washed it (just the heatsink, dont submerge fan), cleaned the fan (not with water), re applied thermal paste cheap rs 10 one and voila! temps are 41 degree idle, 58 degrees FULL LOAD for 1 hour or so. No undervolting, all 4 cores unlocked.

Re: Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

just noticed your fan went kaput and since then these probs,
i am pretty sure that the hot air is not exiting properly. make sure there is a working exhaust fan at the back of the case.

Re: Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

I think its not the hot air...because check out the temps of other components they are fine. I think cool! so case in itself seems good imo.
I am using stock AMD cooler..I think ill have to reapply TIM. I dont find the need to buy a new cooler as previously i used this machine without issues for more than a year and even during HOT summers..

Re: Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

reapply the TIM and get an aftermarket cooler...stock coolers are fine when it comes to intel proccyz... AMD ones produce a lottt of heat...!! considering uv been facing this issue for 1-2 months it could seriously damage your proccy...

As you have yourself aptly put, there does not seem to be a need of a new cooler, specially since you are not in the mood of spending money. First touch the metal part of the cooler when your computer is running and feel if its hot. If it is not it would mean either somehow mounting of the cooler is not proper or TIM has dried up, would suggest you to watch a few youtube videos for changing TIM on the CPU in that case. If IT is hot then maybe your case is not exhausting hot air properly but during winters it is very much doubtful that due to bad alignment of exhaust fans you would be having the above mentioned problems.

@thebanik

Well! I did not try touching the cooler and I am very impatient sometimes it acts as a curse sometimes a boon! and before you replied, yesterday night what I did was remove the heatsink, cleaned off the old TIM and applied that cheap 10 rs white thermal paste I had lying around somewhere..just wanted to give it a shot without any expectations and VOILA! the idle temps went down from 56-57 to 45 degrees Now can you suggest any test to see if the pc is stable? I tried converting a video and it reached 68 and stayed there.
Does it seem fine now? I feel its allright. at this moment with FF, VLC, and uTorrent and few other apps running its 46 degrees. Lastly I doubt its exhaust issues as you see the other temps they seem perfect right?

Re: Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

10rs thermal paste on a unlocked quad core sounds a bit risky... seems to be doin the job tho.. See if you can get your hands on some CM or Artic paste... would be more stable in the long run.. you could use Prime95 for stress testing...

Re: Phenom II X2 555 Unlocked Heated!!

ya I know it is risky but does the job! The risk is there if I dont monitor the temps and they shoot to 70s too often. I think it is in better or much better condtion than before. 47-48 while normal use sounds reasonable..
