Hey All,

I know the driver signing requirement in Vista X64 is a good thing and can prevent malicious code from getting kernel level access, but sometimes, it can really get in the way.

Most of the Overclocking/Benchmark utilities require to install a device driver and even if those programs come with X64 Vista support, this feature (or bane if you may call it that) of Vista will prevent them from successfully working.

Thank fully the workaround is easy enough.

Erm, are you still getting the same error message?

Can you show me a screen shot of the command prompt where you typed this.... I have tried this at least 4 times till date on 4 re installations of Vista and it has working every time like a charm. I hope you rebooted after the command.

Why did you reinstall Vista so many times just curious if due to some hardware/software error ... but why do this override ? When does it become annoying ? I mean for each and every software it will ask for the licensing ?

If you read carefully, this issue is only there in Vista X64 and it is a "feature." To get kernel access, your driver needs to be signed. Virus/spyware writers cannot possibly get these done right? Thats the whole point. However this also affects the enthusiast market.

This simple tweak will solve all that.

Also, I reinstalled Vista so many times because this was the first time I went with Vista (and was hooked.) Never ran the RC1/beta versions.... hence, I messed up a couple of times... now back on track.

Closing Windows Defender isn't necessary

Unless you want this to start at "startup." I have UAC disabled untill M$ fixes the stupid startup blocking limitation.

Hey sorry for not replying bro....

Currently the implementation of UAC in Vista can be a slight pain you know where. My particular complaint is that it blocks the startup programs and you have to explicitly allow them to start "EACH" time you reboot the system. Hopefully that will be fixed with SP1
