OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

Bookmark and Share

Korea might be getting gbps lines soon and what do we get..... download caps.....

Looks like we will be subjected to stupid regulations by TRAI soon....

Caps on broadband plans

Airtel has started implementing it too.....

256 - 10 GB
384 - 15 GB
512 - 25 GB
1 Mbps - edit might be 50 gb and not 150 gb

After its exceeds we get half the speeds we paid for..... I am switching plans to limited today itself....
whats the use of a 1 Mbps plan if I can download only 150 gb

Problem: Airtel finally sets a 25GB limit to it's unlimited plans - India Broadband Forum

Re: OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

Yes - I went to the website 2 days back and saw that all the Unlimited plans(TN Circle) have disappeared. I thought I was lucky to have got a scheme before they pulled the plug. Looks like I was wrong. And damn, I paid for a new modem too. And that too non refundable deposit.

**** ! 15GB for me, thats like craptastic.

But this has not been rolled out yet right?

Re: OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

If this is true then it will be a black day for us people, first of all all these private companies have not been upto the mark at providing faster plans at lower costs, I did a cost comparison a few days back and we as Indians pay something like 2/3 the amount of an Indians average salary for a measly 1 mbps connection ( now with the rise in per capita it may be down to 1/3 ) and still these companies and the TRAI which was supposed to be a watchdog for consumer rights are suggesting a cap on downloads.
this is even worst than torture...A sad thought indeed and I think its coming true.

Its high time people starting pulling the plug from such a **** ISP. Ditch em already. Atleast MTNL / BSNL don't resort to such sh!t.
I can foresee Tata following suit.

I expect BSNL/MTNL to also follow suit. This is called the 3-2-1 strategy or something.

Re: OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

Airtel.in says the 386kbps plan is an unlimited package. But has hiked the price form 999 to 1199 with 100 free calls. W T F did they do that for??

Re: OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

As per the various news and links

OpenGuru: Airtel screws unlimited plan users

this seems to be done by Aitel for the time being and that too in Karnataka. This is bad and will spell doom in the future..

Re: OMG OMG : Caps on Unlimited Broadband Plans

I think it looks like a stunt made early, let's hope tht doesn't happen 150gb is more than enough as even with an average of 6GB per day we are looking like 180GB. I have used Tata wimax 1mbps and wasn't able to cross 110GB for a month Thts like the rig was on 24x7 almost daily...

Wht bothers most is the cap on lower speed plans!!!

I see many will change if this is the way it's gonna be!

if bsnl doesn't do it then they will end up with a larger user base than they currently have!

If you follow all the links in that article, one of the articles says that airtel have been asked to pay a fine of 24cr by the govt of Karnataka, for selling light energy to its broadband customers w/o paying tax for it. I donno if i have understood this correctly, but isnt this the same as claming that you fixed/land lines are providing you with electricity??

How lame can the state get. We have stupid Duck heads running this state. They will surely send this state back to the stoneage!
