Re: new plasma tv

Id recommend either the 40" Bravia V Series or 40/46" Samsung 5 Series LCD TV.

Plasma's in the lower price range ****. There is nothing to it. They're just sub par.

Re: new plasma tv

IQ & Colour Reproduction as not as good as same range LCD's.
Also, none of them are full HD.

they don't have fullHD --- agreed. but again full HD 40" or below i am not sure if it will make a big deal may be if u connect a PC then yes since u will have more resolution.

image quality is superior in LCD of same range: i am not sure of that cause i have seen a Panasonic plasma 720p tv right next to a few 40" considerd to be high class brand lcd playing same movie(the water horse in PS3) and i did not see much of a differece and each had thier own advantages where the plasma had blacks, contrast and the LCD's had brightness.

colour reprodution :---- the same movie comparison and LCD's where more colourful than plasma but i liked the color on the plasma too and found it more natural. colour on TV according to me not the striking colours like very VIVID as most of the TV's show but it should be the ability of the panel to support and differentiate even a minute diifferece in colours and show that color differece accuretly rather than showing some basic colurs very vivid.

for the price what panasonic offers considering the panel is made in japan is really good but it is not the best TV out there.

anyways there is no use of full hd below 46inches?(tats wat ppl say)
any1 bought tv shipped from outside india?
if u feel sharp is good then u can sure go for it cause they make very good LCD TV's and they are number one in the Japanese LCD market.

Philips is also an excellent panel and the model i suggested "7403" will cost u 85k and not 1 lakh. only the 9703 42" costs 1.2 lakhs since its getting manufactured in Belgium .

Re: new plasma tv

Your original choice was the best. In 50k odd, nothing comes close to a PV80 - especially if you wish to watch SD content. With 1080p content, the higher end LCDs will have an edge in sharpness but how much 1080p content do you actually have and how important is it to you?

In everything else - be it scaling, deinterlacing, color, black levels, the panasonic will kill the others.
