New Graphics Card

Looking to buy a new graphics card .

Upgrading from my MSI AMD Radeon 7850 TWIN FROZR OC Edition

Was looking to buy R9 series 280, 280x . But now it seems not available in market.

The 290 is it worth the price? in SP Road they are saying 280x has been replaced by 285.

Did a lot of reading around and the 285 though with a diff arch is behind in the core clock, memory bits and VRAM. So is it wise to buy that?

Also which chipset is the best? usually in radeon i only have bought MSI.

Lastly i have a corsair 550W with the new GPU will it be enough. I have a asrock z68 motherboard and i5 2500k

Any and all suggestions are welcome

If you've a sub 20K budget, GTX960 is worth the wait. Should a perfect 1080p card, releasing in a month or so.

If you really can spent around 26K. Zotac GTX970 is available.

If that is the case, a 970 is a must buy for u....
It's the best " bang for the buck " card right now.....
Its power requirements are really low !!!
I got a Gtx 970 amp extreme by zotac...
Its awesome !!!!!!!
And u will get the nvidia pyp offer....

AMD are usually slightly overpriced since they were widely used for mining..
U can get such cards second hand for really cheap though...
I got an r9 290 for 23k (5 months ago!!!)
When the market price was 34k....
And it was just 2 weeks old....
Although, the deal was reverted due to some issues :-/

PS:
Ur psu may not support overclocking of the GPU and CPU together though...
But it can atleast power then on :-)

So zotac is good in gtx 970? what bout the MSI or ASUS . The gigabyte one is ruled out because its too long.

Re: New Graphics Card

GTX 970 Kicks 290x's ass
And 290X has heavy power requirements...
ull have to get atleast a 650-700W PSU to "aaraam-ly" run ur System

---------- Post added at 11:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:11 AM ----------

Adding to the above...
I suggest u try to get an ASUS strixx....
It costs about 27-28k and beats the Zotac Stock edition which costs about 500-1k less
If u wanna keep ur system cool and may wanna OC (greatly depends on ur PSU) , A zotac AMP edition (Omega or extreme) will be really good...
They cost about 6k more...but can reach the performance of a 980 if OC'ed and cooled!!!

My PSU is 550W. The asus and the msi basic ones both can be over clocked right?

Will my PSU allow it? i have a I5 and 8gb 1600. Was planning on putting one more HDD

Re: New Graphics Card

Gtx 970 just need 190w at max even if overclocked
Using 2x gtx 970(1450/7800) sli and i7 4790k@4.6 with 850w with no problems
So no problems with your psu
And my reccomendation would be a strix 970 dues to many reasons

Gaming is awesome

+1 for the Asus Strix . Using one myself and couldn't be happier.
@Aragornrok - Just save up and get a GTX 970. You won't regret it. If you're looking for something that's quiet and runs 95% of the games maxed out on 1080p, it is THE best card for value and performance.
