Some frank opinions.

The art style , i think there is a long way to go to make everything fit together in one design style.
The 3d renders really stand out in the bg , maybe you could try different shaders ? Add a ground shadow if possible.
Some animation cycles look broken.The run cycle could use some betweens.
The screen can scroll a bit earlier so the character stays almost in the center or a lil off center.
The Hud could be a bit simpler and not in all 4 corners.

Really appreciate the effort and hard work that must have gone into this, waiting to see the full blown game.

Er, nearly everyone does it. Some companies do it on Twitter, some via closed betas, but there's hundreds of 'ethical' ways to preview content.

As long as the OP is doing it with his team's consent, I don't think ethics come in at all.
