Icon7 Need Updated Price of Gtx 680

I need help in buying gtx 680.
  • Budget: 33,000/-
  • Existing hardware setup: core i5 750 @3.3ghz,6850
  • Plans to upgrade in the future: Maybe GPU after 1-2 years
  • Places from where you will buy components along with your location: Online, shops
  • Intended use of the PC [gaming/office use/rendering/HD playback etc] : gaming
  • Brand preferences: MSI,EVGA
  • Monitor resolution and size: 1600*900
  • Will you be overclocking your setup?: Yes of course.
  • Which OS will you use?: Win 7
So just got some info regrading price of gtx 680.
ASUS is available at 35k at primeabgb and 35.5k at Itwares.
Zotac is for 34.5k at some local dealers in Delhi.

So should I go far asus because if price drop is not more than say 1k-1.5k after 2-3 weeks than i can go with these cards but if price drops to something like 31k then i would like to wait.
Just ordered ASUS gtx 680 for 35.5k

Thanks everybody for your comments.
Now we will see how this card performs

No offense dude, but don't you think for your gaming resolution, the GTX680 is a massive overkill?

Your call, I won't deter you from buying it. But in my opinion, a HD6950 or a HD7870 from AMD, or a GTX560 Ti would be more than enough for 1600*900 resolution, which will help you crank up all the settings to max. I played every game at max settings in 1080p using my overclocked HD6870.

On the GTX680 front, please wait for a while. The supply for it is still not up to the mark, and the copies available are getting sold at exorbitant prices. Hold on for a while till the card becomes well available in the market, then you will also have multiple options to choose from, better for you! Both MSI and eVGA are coming up with a lot of different models, evga alone has 12 models scheduled, so you can take the best one that suits your needs.

Just wanted to help you so you don't take a hasty decision.

Cheers!

Thanks for info. So,how long do you think i should wait for cards to be available.

The thing is that i have lot of spare time with me at the moment and i was thinking of wasting it on gaming.
Hence the hurry

I have 6850 cf at the moment. The setup does not perform well for the price(microsttutering, driver problems etc).
One 6850 is good for playing at high settings but not for ultra .
I play RTS games as well as games like BF3,Metro 2033 etc so need as much GPU grunt as i can get.

I think a couple of weeks would suffice. Some new models will be coming out soon.

6850 CF will serve you till that time I guess. Yes, AMD hasn't fixed issues with crossfire yet, but they have improved a lot in the recent years. I remember people cursing AMD/ATI when it was first introduced due to HORRIBLE driver issues and some of them even abandoned camp to join nVIDIA since their drivers were always very robust. They had their share of blips as well, but a lot less than their red counterparts.

Wait a while and you'll get the best deal bro. Till then, upgrade your monitor

I don't seem to have trouble with my monitor regarding res.I will wait till next week to see what is what and then go for the kill.
By the way can you guess the price diff between msi gtx 680 reference and twin frzr edition on basis of past gpu release cause if it is more than 2k then msi reference is the one which will be sitting in my computer.

I would rather say Buy a 32" Monitor 1st then buy 680. Your current monitor is like feeding a Lion to kill a rat.

Re: Need Updated Price of Gtx 680

Yeah I get your point but i play rts games like shogun 2,ntw and games like metro 2033 and crysis with mods and 4XAA and in some of these games even a gtx 680 does not cut it at 1080p ,but i hope it will suffice for 1600*900.

Re: Need Updated Price of Gtx 680

just a suggestion bro, get a 560Ti from here

3 X Zotac 560-ti , MSI 560-ti Hawk,, DDr3rams Gskill Ripjaws, Laptoprams, PSVita 8 gb

and if you think its not enough (you are crazy if you do ) than get 2 and SLI them. its WAY MORE than enough for your resolution or even full HD resolution for next 3-4 years.
