I aspire to be an astronaut, doing some research on the net and reading the testimonies of current astronauts, I have come up with a strategy to achieve my dream. I am currently in 12th Grade PCM CS, I will give engineering entrance exams in 2014.I'd like to major in Physics heavy streams as Physics is my favorite and strongest subject, so I have narrowed down my choices to 2 streams i.e Computer Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. I plan on pursuing higher studies in respective fields till I get my PhD. If I choose Aerospace I'd like to further study Rocket Propulsion and Aerodynamics, and If I choose Computer Engineering I'd like to pursue Quantum Computing as the idea Fascinates me + I love Quantum Mechanics.
I also have a thing for Aircrafts and I'd love to fly as it will help me achieving my goal. This is what I stumbled upon while researching on the net :
If you are interested in a pilot/commander position, instead of mission specialist, you will also be required to log in at least 1,000 hours of flight time in command of a jet aircraft. During training all crew members train aboard a T-38 jet, in which the controls are identical to the Space Shuttle and therefore, can be used as a flight simulator either on the ground or in actual flight. |
I tried searching schools for pilot training, but my efforts were in vain as the ones that I found were for commercial pilot licenses, now the only ray of hope seems to join air force. So here I am looking for alternatives, I hope there are some pilots on [E] or friends of some [E] members that can enlighten me.
I am comfortable doing the pilot training with college or in summer vacations.
Also. since Fitness plays a crucial part in becoming an astronaut,I'd like to lose weight. I am 6ft tall and I weigh 106kgs. I workout 1 hour each day, 5 days a week doing High Intensity Interval Training on Treadmill and exercise bike. I go for a 5km walk in the night after dinner. During the day I remain quite active as I play alot with my pup.As of yet I have been eating a 1500 calorie diet with high protein and low carb. I drink green tea twice a day since I heard it boosts the metabolic rate. I have completely eradicated sugar from my meals and snacks. I have stopped eating outside, I have stopped drinking sodas and other Aerated drinks. I have lost 5 kgs in the past 4 months and I am very dissapointed with a rate at which I lose my weight, since on paper its simple Thermodynamics burn more than what you eat throughout the day and your body starts using the energy from reserves i.e fat.
I have been using Noom and Skimble to record my workouts and keep a tab on my calorie intake. My goal weight is around 75-78 kgs till June-July 2014. I'd really appreciate any tips that might help me increase the rate of loss of my fat.
PS (Mods): Since my thread consists of pilot training component, I didn't put it in the health and fitness section. Feel free to move my post to the place you think it belongs to.
Thank you
Edit: Also, I've been thinking of switching over to the Paleo diet after my teeth get used to the thrust force of my new braces
