@kauffmann - As you r from delhi , go to Delhi MTNL site - Bharat on line and under Internet/Broadband chech your Broadband Account Usage ..Put your Phone number and CA number as username and password resp.

wait a minute, so do I call them and tell them that I need to change my plan? I'm already on the 512kbps plan, so would the speeds be upgraded automatically or do I need to change my plan or something?

Plus these MTNL chaps don't have any idea about the speed increase.

Kauffy: you dont need to change the plan or anything. Just call them and point them to mtnldelhi.in's tariff page, and tell them to upgrade your speeds to 1 Mbps !

I just did that on 1504 and they said the change will automatically take place for all users by the 20th.

don't worry, same story with my mate. Contact someone highly placed in MTNL and request them nicely, they will get it done within 5minutes OR wait till the 20th like the customer support said.

i just signed up for an UL999 1mbps line from MTNL.. intend to try out their service & speed before i decide on stopping my Reliance Wimax connection.

BTW.. can any of u guys on MTNL here already recommend a good modem/router?? MTNL asked me if i wanted their stuff or i wud use my own... i just said i wud use my own.. but am not sure of which models to get.

From reading up i figured Dlink is crap.

So with that it's just down to Linksys & Netgear?? Any of these have issues with MTNL support??
