Movie Cataloging

Hey,
Growing movie collection can be a problematic to browse through.

I'm looking for an application with which I can catalog my movie collection with.
What I basically want to do is:-

Give every DVD a name say A1 to A10
Every DVD will have several movies in em'.

I want to catalog the DVDs, so I can easily browse through em. OR catalog all the movies and find out in what all DVDs are they on.

And ofcourse, IMDB sync/update would be an added feature.

Right now I'm checking out Movie Collector Pro from Collectorz.com

Regards,
Kauffmann

Re: Movie Cataloging

Manually how? I'm okay with adding movies to the application manually, but I need to have them in one place, with a decent UI, so I can browse through them and know what DVD they're on.

Re: Movie Cataloging

Yeah it did at that time but right now I am not using it, I switched to using an excel file I made for the full details.
that time it categorized all files into pre formatted categories.

Re: Movie Cataloging

Thanks alot for the suggestion guys! I went ahead with movie collector pro, its an awesome tool. Will post back about it later.

If in any case you do plan to download it, get the 5.6.2 version since it has IMDB support.

Re: Movie Cataloging

I just use a simple excel sheet. Stuck a small sticker on my disc/disc case/racks and wrote just a number starting from 1.

Any movie/music, i get it in seconds. only a Ctrl+F away.

this for my 1000+ DivX, 50+ HD , 35+ Shows(each with full or updated no of seasons) and more-than-ever-going-to-hear no of MP3's.

for porns..i dont number them..its just there...

Re: Movie Cataloging

Even I was thinking about falling back on excel, but then I really wanted the IMDB description with each movie.

The search feature works pretty well, it also allows me to enter multiple titles, so whenever you search, you get both the titles and their locations.

I'm tagging each disc compartment in my dvd case.

Re: Movie Cataloging

I use an excel sheet and have a field which links to the imdb page for the movie. Works well and I can always add whatever information I want for a particular movie. Been doing this for managing about 3TB of movies in all types of formats.
