I changed the baseband to 900/2100 just in case (we share the same baseband) , on the latest nightly now only hd recording doesn't work for me

Re: Motorola Defy - Just Updated to 2.2.2

Yea .. its daddy's new toy ..

So .. Defy peeps .. Currently I have the stock Eclair on my Defy rooted with SuperOneClick.

1. Will the existing rooting cause any kind of problem when upgrading to Froyo. ? like Void my warranty ?
2. Will my contacts/sms be retained or do I need to back them up ?
3. Do I need to back up the contents of my SD Card as well ?
4. Can I install CM7 over the Indian version ?
5. The fixed SBF which Moz has uploaded on XDA .. how is it better ?

Thanks.

The fixed sbf only if you want to retain downgradbility to 2.1 , you can install CM7 over any stock froyo, sync your contacts with google , you can always backup your sms lots of free apps .

1. Rooting will not cause any issue and using "Full" SBF to flash or the Motorola way will not void your warranty as this is an official update. However when flashing any other base ROM (Required in Defy due to locked bootloaders), always flash the nandroid backup + "fixed" SBF using RSDLite.
2. Back them up using Titanium/My Backup Pro.
3. You don't have to as per say, but I would just in case.
4. Yes, you can install Quarx CM7 and also the MIUI, both are designed to work with any region's bootloader.
5. It is only useful if someone uploads a nandroid backup of their new Froyo update. So then someone can restore the nandroid backup + flash the "fixed" SBF and it will allow them to downgrade if they ever need to for whatever reason. Downgradibility is an issue only if flashing non-region ROMS, so since the offial update is out, read point 1 .

---------- Post added at 11:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:31 PM ----------

You will need to re-root though!
