How can a person inspire you to buy a UPS? Wait... you are talking about Chaos.

Heh just use any power cable - even the old one connecting ur PSU to mains will do. If you want to add additional devices to the UPS, you either need to get the APC break out box or cut the plug of a power strip and put in one of those IEC plugs supplied with the UPS.

The APC break out box costs 1.5k and is unavailable most of the times. I'd say do the surgery yourself. Not very hard to do if u know soldering.

okies ... yeah i know soldering ... will give it a try then ...

though my dealer has said that he probably has a normal spike strip with IEC input and regular outputs ... so if he gets me that .. (around 200 bucks) .. then i am all set ... lets see...

Re: Monster Backup (Power) for a Monster Rig

Its mostly for remote monitoring of the UPS. Its useful when you have a dozen of them and want to monitor them individually.

Re: Monster Backup (Power) for a Monster Rig

^ Thanks mate ... just one final query .... do we have to install all 3 software ... PowerChute Agent / PowerChute Server / PowerChute Console in order to monitor the UPS. Isnt there a standalone software.

Also i have to enter the password each time i open the console. Dont we have something like the personal edition ... ???? single utility without any password and all.

Also, this one doesn't auto start with windows ???

Re: Monster Backup (Power) for a Monster Rig

------------------
REPORT
------------------

Devices connected to the UPS

1. My Rig (see config in siggy)
2. Viewsonic VX2025 WM

------------------------------------

According to APC PowerChute:

Battery Charge Level: 100% Charged

Idle (just uTorrent/firefox/gtalk/etc running)

Load on UPS = 24% (24% of 1500 VA)
Estimated Backup = 55 minutes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Load (FUR Benchmark running - 8800 ultra running on its max potential)

Load on UPS = 37%
Estimated Backup = 45 Minutes

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to test the actual times by turning of the power. Will do that later and report back. And if the actual figures are close to what the software is showing ... then i am more than happy ... ...

Thanks ...

Re: Monster Backup (Power) for a Monster Rig

I don't use powerchute. I installed it once just to disable the stupid beeps. I just let windows manage the UPS. Those times are about right. I get arnd 15-16 mins backup on load and ~25-30mins at idle with dual cards and bucketloads of drives.
