Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

I have almost made up my mind for Milestone.
There's just one thing that I want to clarify. I have already started with Android Development and will be testing my apps on the phone I am going to buy. So, which according to you will be a better option for my development purposes. Does an unlocked boot-loader in N1 makes it a better buy over Milestone in this regard?

Please mention pros and cons for the same.
Are there any other good high-end phones coming within next 2-3 months that I should wait for?
I know about Desire and Galaxy S but somehow would prefer Milestone/Nexus 1 over them.. iSpica seems to be a good option too, only thing is I want a better specced phone..

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

HTC Incredible > Nexus One. Incredible has been termed as the best Android device available in the market today, ofcourse the HTC Evo 4G fanatics would disagree with that.

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

Scorpy, unlocked bootloader is a blessing.
And Incredible is indeed the best phone but if you have the budget go for it. But do find out if it supports unlocked bootloader.

Between N1 and Milestone, get a N1 because it is hackable from all sides.
Hell yeah I am planning on a kernel mod for my N1. Let us see how it goes .

Rest between Incredible and N1, Cynic has given you the ans. But do find out if it as hackable as N1 or not.

Good luck bro .

The Desire is not the same as the Incredible.

I haven't used the Incredible but the Desire is a much nicer phone than the N1. And I believe it's as hackable.

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

Id say milestone for build, audio quality and vfm.

But seems that since you're going to be a dev, the n1 will prove to be a better development device for the future. It'll probably be worth shelling out the extra cash for the N1 in your case.

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

I agree but I meant it in a loosely comparative way, the Desire is very hackable so it becomes a good choice for someone who has the money.

Better choice is the Desire as I suggested, super phone, if you can afford it. nothing beats it.

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

My roommate has the Desire. I can ask him about the bootloader when he wakes up.

EDIT: It can be done, but only on devices with a 0.75 bootloader or below. http://androidcommunity.com/root-you...sire-20100428/

It seems the Desire is locked down more securely than the Milestone. And yes, this is right after reading that thread.

Re: Milestone Vs Nexus One: Help Me Decide on My Next Phone

I don't understand why they have restrictions in a device which runs open source os. ( I know the answer but had to write this )
So Scorpy mate, ask the seller if the bootloader is the version Stoney mentioned, and if it is not, then dont worry one of these days there will be a cure for that too.

When I said locked down more, I meant it. You cant run custom kernels, or even have write access to the /system partition of the phone.

thanks a lot for the replies guys, keep them coming.. will also wait for what Ad1's take on this.... I can get HTC Desire from UK if i decide upon that...
do you expect Desire to have better multitouch response than N1 (asking as both are HTC products)?
