It's gonna have 3G, 5 megapixel camera and ofcourse, it will run Android! And what better way to market your product than to have Michael Dell, the man himself give you a teaser out on the street!!

Dell Mini 5 appears to be rather unique but there are many things, as is apparent from the video, that Michael Dell would rather leave for later The curious ones however wouldn't wanna miss anything closer to a specifications table. So here are some juicy details about this device:

Screen: 5 inch LCD

OS: Android

Browser: Android Browser

Ebook Client: Yes

Adobe Flash Player support: Yes

Apps: Android Market

Multitasking and Multitouch: YES!

Camera: 5 MP; Might have a second front facing camera to enable video conferencing (update: 2nd camera has been confirmed!)

Processor: Qualcomm 1GHz Snapdragon

Storage: Not known as of now

Expandable memory: Dual Micro SD slots

Connectivity: Wifi, 3G (HSPA/GSM), Bluetooth

Availability: Mid-year (confirmed)

Price: Unknown

Saweeeet ! the world is changing. hope dell doesn't mess this time with the phones.
Michael dell makes me laugh, the specs look good and the screen is nice too. have to wait for the MWC this time around, there will be more to expect from this February for sure.

Here's a video from CES 2010 that obviously divulges more than Michael Dell did. Btw, Dell has introduced not just the Dell Mini5 but Dell Mini3 as well

Are you not considering the lenovo U1 hybrid instead? The thing runs Windows 7 in laptop mode and Linux in tablet mode and the snapdragon makes life much easy. There have been very brief demos out so can't say much. Moreover, would you be fine with Asus as a brand, specifically given Rashi's current reputation in India?

All the tablets including the ones you mentioned would be running Windows 7 Home Premium out of the box. Ofcourse, you'd want XP but you might wanna give your reliance on Asus a second thought.

You'll be fine with Asus provided you buy it from apna SMC
My current mobo is an Asus. RMAed once, got back replacement in 3 days flat in excellent condition (courtesy Saini sir).

I detest even thinking of running win 7 on a tablet. Besides, why would I want to pay for a (p)OS I don't need?
I am sure most people who argued in favour of Win 7 as a netbook os have now changed their mind.
btw, nowadays I am busy on a fresh XP install (takes me days to get it the way I want but once done, I am good for more than an year). Screenies coming up shortly

The only drawback I see with this device is the size.

Granted, not everything can be a maxiPad but this device is confused. Too large for a phone, too small for a really versatile tablet.

All this running a custom install of XP (or *nix - not sure of good tablet support there) would be nice in a 10" form factor or thereabouts. I don't want to sound like a fanboy or a parrot, but I think at least the maxiPad is more usable than this.

Looks like Dell Mini 5 sailed through FCC's approval process. The documentation defines the Dell Mini 5 as "a mobile internet device" with support for WiFi plus full HSPA on WCDMA bands II and V (i.e. AT&T, Rogers, Bell, and Telus) plus EDGE on the same frequencies.
