alright this was my best super pi 1m time, 11.391 that was carried out sometime back...

Then winters came in and everything started freezing... ambient temps in my room were around 12-14 degrees... no need for fans at full speeds, and the system would run at miraculously low temperatures, system temp 25, cpu idle at 27-29 under load 33-35, gpu around 40 - 38, which was insane. So the devil in me suggested that this would be a great time to try for a higher OC now that temps are so low...

my target was always to do 500x9 on my rig, 4.5ghz, though i dint make it, but i sure did come close. i have done 525+x8, but then stability was an issue, dint try a lower multi than that.. but some suprizes first.

Ram overclock - 4-4-4-12 at 500 mhz ( ddr21000)





Then i tried a lil bit push over the normal 450x9 - and tightening ram a lil bit, it would run cl4 as it is at 960 mhz, with about 2.25 volts ( rated voltage for g.skill is 2.3-2.4volts on the pack)

this is what the system could reach -



4231mhz super pi time was -



from 11.250 went to a below 11 sec time...

not to be out done... tried 480x9, system booted, but not stable.. pulled back to 475x9....

this is my rig in its new avatar with the scythe on the hyper 212 and the OCZ ram coolers helping along the overclocks... ( or maybe it could be the winters and i just burned 1500 bucks on both!!)

i know its a tight stuff in there atm, but once i get the 10$ cooler for my card, the massive heatsink will go....

Doesn't your CPU cooler restrict the entry of air into your VX450?

nope... it runs cool... besides the airflow generated by the scythe now has air spilling along the sides, so there is more air entering the intake fan of the 450. its a tight fit... but for me even this cabbie feels big... i always was a matx fan...

Nopes, i know, he wont settle for 4850, hes gonna get GTX 260 216 or some next gen gpu when he really feels the need to buy one. He has done all the "enthu driven upgrades long ago so, he has been there done all 10 years ago, ocing at that time was really rocket science, these days its cake walk, anyone can do rofl.

Yaar even in my PC VX450 hardly gets hot, i have never heard its fan, even when i disconnect ALL fans i cant hear it (its hardly on full or 80% load) so thats not a problem.

It was a nice little session we had that day on 31st rofl... newer Scythes are better looking.

Oye my quad is at 22-23 idle temps @ 2.7 ghz now rofl! it wont go above 25 when OCed trust me!

bahh... fixed... its not really a chore, but the start of my thread is now messed up, you click on the text, and it goes to the pic of the first super pi that i did...

i cant make up my mind to buy a gpu, why because if you take out fraps and everything, and you start gaming, i feel the need for a gpu when my game is not playable, for a few more details, it dont make sense.. besides i need to save the money atm... done enough expenditure... though i have a CF mobo... a 4850 CF would be mad fun... 16k atm...

^^They're 1066 mhz RAM. So yes, it's sick, but technically, they're underclocked

they are 1066 mhz ram, rated cl5 - 5-5-5-15 at 1066. i managed 4-4-4-12 at 1000 mhz, and 4-4-4-10 at 960 mhz, though volts dint go above 2.35, so i could overvolt to 2.4-2.45 to see what happens, but online reviews state thats about the limit of the ram. fsb wise, they will do 1200+ mhz easy. need to spend more time on timings to tighten stuff up, but then i dont want to overvolt my cpu and fry it. Its gotta last me two years...

this session also marked the debut of my new hybrid 120mm fan "frankenstein"
its 4x 60mm fans tied together by wire ties. each 60mm fan is a delta EHE series 20W 12k rpm 80+cfm fan. so its specs read as 320+cfm and 80W very noisy and very effective

^^ alright.. now i know.. but thats insanely loud.... why would u wanna do that to your ears??? though i like the 4 fans in a group, and isnt 1.6 too much vcore for 45nm??? i mean i dont go above 1.4.
