Install Windows 7 from USB/Portable HDD, on a DOS laptop with no Optical Disc Drive.

I bought a nettop recently that comes with no OS. They say, only DOS is installed.

I am planning to install Windows 7 32 bit on it but not sure how to do it since the machine comes without any optical disc drive. And I am not sure if I'll be able to format the DOS partition, if I start the setup from the attached USB Hard Disk (containing the Windows 7 installer).

Any pointers / perspectives ?

even with optical drive, I chose to try the USB thing..

You can pick up and article from the net...all are same...

Someone went a step further to create a toolkit that runs all the command for you and creates a bootable USB with the data in it..

I am downloading the OEM version now. And the thing already claims 5+ hrs so I do not care. I am anyway keeping that thing on AC mains mostly.

Awesome, I installed W7 via USB recently, went super smooth, found the guide via google.

W7 gives excellent battery backup.
