Hi FR, I used the files you sent me and tried again but still failed, also said permission denied. I flashed cherry ROM of A2.3.4 before, now I'm trying WellCom ROM and see what will happen. BTW, could you pls paste the download link of MI-410 ROM? I need the official website link of CSL, 'cause I just found I can not visit fileserv website... poor...

---------- Post added at 10:00 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:48 PM ----------

Still didn't work with the A99 ROM, it said permission denied when I input su. What's wrong??
Any advice?

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

^ Try doing the chmods in Linux itself as someone has posted in this thread.

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

Tried to do chmod in Ubuntu, and even tried to do chown to change the file owners the same as the other files, but it still said permission denied.... Strange and it's driving me crazy...

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

That is indeed strange. I got rooted in my first attempt and have re rooted thereafter several times :/
If root access is important for you, I'd suggest you go back to Froyo and use rageagainstthecage or keep trying.
In a couple of days, we'll have a clockwork mod out with a update.zip for root access.

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

Thanks anyway. Seems I have to wait for the mod. If it comes out, pls let us know.
And, does this mean we need to flash a clockwork recovery system before we use the update.zip? Or can we update it directly in the official bootloader mode?
Thanks again.

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

Hi paarkhi, thanks for your concerning. First I followed the OP strictly, but failed. Then I noticed the reply thread of Huawei X6, so I add the command "sudo -s" before I run sudo nautilus, still not work. Yes I saw some errors when I run sudo nautilus for the first time, and I close the Nautilus window and the terminal, then open a new terminal and run sudo -s, sudo nautilus, the error was gone and everything seems OK, and I can also find the 3 files copied before in the /userdata/local/tmp folder, and I move them to the right location, but it still said permission denied when I input su in adb shell.
Then I noticed another thread which instruct me to do chmod in Ubuntu, and I did so, it looks normal, but "permission denied" again when I power on the phone.
Don't know why...

---------- Post added at 11:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 PM ----------

Another thing, could someone check the ownership and group of these 3 files using ls -al in Ubuntu?
I noticed that all files' ownership and group are root:2000 in /system/app except Superuser.apk I just copied in, and all files' ownership and group are root:root in /system/bin except su and busybox. I did chown to change the ownership and group of the 3 files to match the other files and try adb shell and su again, still not work, permission denied again... Sigh...

I don't want to give up but I have no clue now... Somebody help~

USB debugging mode should be enabled in the phone by going to settings-applications-development

Just Remove the spaces from the link, Erodov has a bad habit of messing with the links and I don't know why I can't edit my posts, may be because I'm a newbie here, I try and it says permission denied

Hi my friend, I sent you an invitation but didn't get any response. I
never used the chat function of gmail before, so I'm not sure if I did
that right.
Do you have any other IM tool, such as MSN?
Thanks.

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

Hi, I have exactly the same issue (root permission denied from adb shell) I have followed all the steps mentioned, double checked file locations and permissions and have also tried other options mentioned in the forum like changing the permissions of the three files from linux terminal, still no luck, by the way I've been using Fedora Linux since last couple of years. Any help would be greatly appreciated, should I find a way out, I'll surely post it here...
