Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

@FR I was looking at this Porting Clockwork Recovery to New Devices

Do you know anybody who has tried this/yourself and any known limitations? I am thinking of giving it a go but with me so new to Android(< 1 week) I hope I don't brick my phone lol

Let me know if you have inputs/suggestions/Warnings etc about the same

I did come across the same link but unfortunately don't have the time nowadays to screw with anything.
Pretty happy with stock gingerbread. Will try when I have the time though do not put so much faith in my abilities

Sent from my Spice MI-410 on rooted Gingerbread 2.3.4

It'd be real good if we can find a kernel source code and custom kernel so that we can OC our devices, but otherwise as you said I'm also very much happy with Stock 2.3.4 Rooted.

Yes I also have found it more stable out of the 3 Roms, however you should of cleared cache and wiped userdata before updating. Now you know how to root you could always go back, redo all the steps and finish the job properly.

congrats on the root.

congrats on the root.
I was already using the phone with ROM so for rooting I think it was not necessary to wipe user data and cache and as of now phone is working very fine
Thanks for the congrats

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

lol.... this entire method reminded me of how we would edit and compile special "Themes" for the LG KP 500. Still it is a good article!
Although I did love the Android theme for that phone

you may not be having a root permision
Did you do-> su nautilus <- Did you get any error message in terminal, if yes then close nautilus and terminal and open terminal again, then type the same command
Read this post, someone else also had the permission problem

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

@superviked... your welcome ! Those instructions to overcome getting nautilus errors where written by me.

@anybody else having Nautilus errors PLEASE read and follow these steps carefully

* Open Terminal type sudo -s
* now type sudo nautilus
* If you get errors just close nautilus folder and the terminal
* Open a new terminal type sudo -s
* type sudo nautilus
* MAKE SURE THE PHONE IS IN DOWNLOAD MODE!! (Press volume up + power button together)
* Connect the phone to usb cable
* Many nautilus folders will open ONLY 1 of the folders that opened has USERDATA access it is usually underneath all the others
* Use this USERDATA nautilus folder to cut/paste the 3 Superuser files.

follow the remaining steps of the Op

Re: How to Root Any Android Device Manually

Great work FR! I tried but not succeed, it failed at the last step, when I entered adb shell and input su, it said permission denied.
I think it's because I used another version of su, Superuser.apk or busybox. I can not visit mediafire in my region, could you pls send me these 3 files via email?
My address is kofchina#gmail.com (replace # using @ to avoid spams, sorry), many thanks and looking forward to your prompt reply.
