Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

@terencefdes

Terry,

I have actually thought about this one and me and @vijayninel have also discussed the possibility of having a sticky thread where all sorts of computer configurations will be provided starting from a shoe-string budget to a high end rig. Recently we are getting loads of requests for suggesting builds so we can have a one-for-all thread where we will give and maintain these things. That will streamline the entire thing better I guess.

Will take this matter with you through PM. Let's see what else we can do for our youngest fella here

I think this only makes it better if we have a good bit of introduction there as to how to make your own PC in simple, newbie-friendly terms. Let me take this further.
@Dark Rathod

Let me know if you need anything else in terms of understanding.

Thankyou friend ! You are really helpful and modest

Now i have understood everything about the parts and their quality....

I have already bought a G530 for Rs.2200 now i need is a board and a ram under Rs.3300

Also do suggest me good quality PSU under Rs.1500 [cant stretch budget].

As friend @ChironX said that a Rs.4000 gpu is enough for gaming so also i am going to buy a Gpu a month later so i need suggestions on gpu also........

Thankyou you all friends , you were very helpful.

I would definately recommed this site to each of my friend for the good behaviors and modesty of people here. Thanks !

:O

That is quite a stretch, on that kind of budget it's hard to find a quality PSU :-/ Check for something in this forum maybe.

In around 4,000 try and find a good second hand GPU. One of my friends bought a HD5770 in 4k last week, and it was a pretty awesome deal I'd say.

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

Antec BP-300 is a good psu that u can get for Rs.1700 on flipkart. Try locally m sure u will find it for 1500-1600 , it can also handle a 6670 .

About the board, u can get a MSi H61 P30 from M.d computers website for 2600 but this does not support onboard graphics so u need a cheap gpu for this to work .So try n find a deal under 2700 for boards like Asrock or Intel or Asus H61 chipset. Fk giving Intel DH61 for Rs.2850.
For ram go with Adata 2gb Ddr3 1333Mhz ram for Rs.650 on flipkart with life-time warranty. They r good and fits your budget.

All this components may rise ur budget by 300-400Rs. But these components are worth the extra 3-400rs.
And lastly for gpu a 6670 is best for ur budget. U can get 6670 ddr3 version for 4.2-4.3 locally.
As said by my bro @ChironX, u can also get good second hand cards just look for a deal around, my friend got a 6month used Sapphire HD6670 GDDR5 for Rs.3200 in mumbai a few days ago with 2yr n 6month warranty left isn't that great?

Hope I helped & good luck for future build.

Call or Live chat Prime abgab. Link , Most of the time they don't update product with low demands on their site. I have found Bp350w link on same site, Link .... which my uncle purchased locally of 1700. You have to call or also you can confirm product availability through Live chat. They are pretty reliable and decent in their pricing.

HD6670 DDR5 card is 500/- more then DDR3, but the +points towards DDR5 is more. DDR5 cards works almost 3 times faster in texel transfer rates, but that not doesn't depend entirely upon memory type (DDR3 OR DDR5) but also on BUS transfer. If a GDDR5 card has a 128 bit BUS and a DDR3 card has a 256 bit BUS and their memory bandwidth(GBs)is same then they will work almost same.

Your case : I recomend You, DDR5 version cause that is modern and much more better memory technology than ddr3. It has high resale value + Crossfire supporting. May be in future u will switch to CROSSFIRE . Rs 500 Is worth the product.

Yes, I have a 2GBx2 Adata stick in my home PC from atleast 3 years. Adata, Transcend, Kingston are reliable brands and are cheap too.
But Since you are constrained by budget Otherwise Gskill Ripjaws @ 800/- is also a murderess.

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

Really brilliant suggestions coming up here from @herecomesmaggi, @Parth SK Tank, @ChironX. In fact this thread has been an eye-opener for me too. Yes, of how to build a "Quality" system with the minimum budget.

So stick to Antec BP350 .... the price difference is not very much from the hard to find BP300. Also remember - DO NOT CHANGE the recommended Brand/model nos other than the ones suggested to you (Dealers in Mumbai will readily offer you other lesser known brands which are a whole lot cheaper - VIP; iBall etc,) but these are not quality products.

Stick to your built in graphics of the Intel G530 until you are able to find a good DDR5 GPU from the second hand market here.

Cheers
Terry

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

Hmm,

There is nothing special here to wonder what makes the corsair costly and how it is possible to give away an al cheapo PSU for 700 bucks. This is what I say a contrast in product.
700 bucks on one side and 4K bucks on the other side will certainly put each and every one under confusion. One would eventually think about why to go for 4K one and why not the one for 700 bucks!!!

There is indeed a huge gap in there with respect to the price range. Most of the pals won't know what the mystery behind the costly PSU is and their mind blindly won't let them shed the money for a pricey PSU.

Here is what I had observed some long time back.

1. Quality of the components!

When I say quality of the components, it includes capacitors, inductors, diodes, power resistors and Transistors.

Quality of the capacitors plays an important role here. The best capacitors i would say is the KZE and KMR series that come from Nippon. I never saw them in any of our cheap PSUs. I found it only in Corsair series. Not sure about the other PSUs in the market.

The capacitor fails over a period of time just because it may not be properly sealed. You can observe a bulge on the top or bottom of the conked capacitors.

Then comes the diodes. Schottky diodes are best in class for the frequency we are dealing with rectification. Again that is lagging in cheap PSUs. I got no idea what are they going to do in saving a rupee!!!

Transistors are a mystery again. What transistor on earth will they put??? They foil it and there is no name!!! God knows. This is applicable to corsair as well.

2. Heatsink blunder!

In cheap PSUs, though the transistor details and its quality is unknown, still the blunder entirely lands on the heatsink they choose for them. Transistors certainly become hell hot and will emit more. Heat sink is supposed to eat up all the heat generated by transistor. Poor heat sink(cost cutting factor) in cheap PSUs causes huge troubles. The sinks don't work well. Here is how things happen:

Transistor heats up
Heat sinks indeed get hot
After some time, heat gets emitted not in a uniform manner and not in controlled way either
Internal temperature builds up
Capacitors adjacent to the transistors and others feels the heat
After some time, either capacitor or transistor blows out.

What happens when capacitor blows out?
Simple, cut-off is what I can say!!! This way the damage is minimal I believe

What happens when transistor blows out?
Holy, it is a mess. The chances are high that any of the components blows out just because of instant high current flow for a fraction of minute.

I see corsair is the clear winner here. It has got all in par and up to the standards.

Hope this gives you guys atleast some idea what makes corsair the winner and pricey!!!

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

so true Marun , added to tat i wanted to add my personal exprc.. i am impressed by honey comb structure, the air passes through all the components before pusing out the hot air.. instead of the dumb air flow structure of cheap PSU...
i also thought it waste of money previously and used cheap PSU for 3years(it didnt die)...but after i upgraded, i understood tat all the random crashes tat i had previously is because of the cheap PSU

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

^ +1 there @Marun

Corsair, Antec etc. companies , are only PSU assemblers. Seasonic is behind most of the successful PSU lineups as they are OEM as well as assemblers (OEM = noob definition = Parts and PCB manufacturer). Most Corsair/Antec high efficiency PSUs are rebadged Seasonic parts. Other OEMs include HEC, SuperFlower, Enermax, AcBel, Channel Well etc.

HEC is another very well regarded PSU parts manufacturer and the ones behind Antec's highly famed HCG/HCP (high current gamer/pro) series of power supplies.

In short, the better the OEM, the better the PSU becomes.

Here is a detailed discussion in Toms' Hardware discussing about power supply - a must read:

Corsair also maintain its respect in design and beauty. Though i have never second seasonic or antec too.. They too provide psu, not of beauty but powerful enough for any range.

Re: Help Me in Upgrading After Years !

I am liking this discussion so very much (and it's getting better). We see by now how important a PSU is to any system - no matter what the budget is. Thanks @Marun and @MadDog for chipping in.

Now let's get back and identify the "best" PSU .... entry level (that assures us of "quality). The Antec BP350 is one, are there others (should be easily available in India)?

Let's not forget that OP still seeks a super-budget board
