Woot Help Me Build a High Performance PC

ok back again i am

need to add a 3rd PC to my rig and i am thinking about getting a better one this time, something which has more juice than the AMD 1100T and i7 2600K (my other two slave pc's ).

may i also add that this is not a gaming/rending rig. my work concerns with audio, to be more specific this will serve as a slave rig while my mac pro uses its processing power to run my softwares via LAN.

should i just get a 2600K based rig and overclock it?
in either case, i need a config-

what i need
A Multi core rig with as much processing power as possible without creating a hole in my pockets (the pores start to appear beyond 1500$ )
16/32? gb ram
A decent cooling so it does not get hot during 12-16 hour runs. NO water cooling though.
Case
Dual gigabit lan (not that important)
two PCI Slots (or atleast one)
Stability out of the box - very important.

what i already have
128 gb SSD + two 2 TB WD Black hard disks
Palit 8600 GT (yeah)

not needed
a monitor
noisy fans
burner

Re: Help Me Build a High Performance PC

if you can wait another month or so for bulldozer then you can get better price or better performance in your current budget!!!

till then OC your current 2600K to 4.5GHz!!! get a Nuctua NHD14 or Corsair H100!!!

Re: Help Me Build a High Performance PC

I7 - 4.2
1100T - 4.0
Oc'ing more will not make any difference as all my ram gets used up as well (16 gig on both) , almost.
Those benches real? Hmmm. I did google a bit and all i could find was rumors or info with no reliable source. Also last time i waited for AMD and relied on those rumrs, the processors turned out to be no good than intel quads.

if you can then try importing the new ADATA 8GB RAM(single stick) for Desktop released recently! you can ask KTD fo that.

Re: Help Me Build a High Performance PC

its about 180$ each man . 4 sticks means almost 800$
i'd rather buy intel 990 cpu than spend a grand on the rams

Re: Help Me Build a High Performance PC

well well seems like i have hit the wall sooner than i expected

so need a new computer asap. kindly suggest me a 2600K based rig. might as well buy two if i can settle for a mid-end motherboard. not much OC'ing needed anyway.

Re: Help Me Build a High Performance PC

Your application is showing usage of all cores. I believe your best bet is to look for a good deal on a 2nd had 980x 6 core 12 thread. I believe this will show you the most gains. On the X58 board you can run 24 gb ram as well.

Ofc barring that 2600k is the way to go , 2nd hand 980x will still be 10k more than new 2600 but in your case its a totally worthwhile investment as it will pay for itself. If outright clock speed is not desired you should look at X58 setup with more ram (maybe 2nd hand 920 with board).

But your requirement is urgent so getting new will probably make most sense to you X58 with 6 core is something you can keep in mind for the near future.
