Google Nexus One Phone Review

Introduction

The Nexus One is a game changer. Until now, all previous iterations of Android devices came with underpowered hardware. The Verizon/Motorola Droid did a fair job of playing catch up (by building on a Cortex A8 550 MHz CPU) but that did not quite do the trick. The Nexus One does more than just bridge the gap for Android - it actually trumps its biggest competitor in all major areas concerning a mobile pocket device. A 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7 inch AMOLED screen, an 11.5 mm thick rugged candy bar design, 512 MB RAM (first on any mobile phone) – and to top it all off, a $530 unlocked (contract-free) price! Did I mention that its looks could kill too?!

Re: Google Nexus One Phone Review

Great review mate. Now all I have to do is wait for a couple of years until the price comes down to a hundred dollars so I can buy it! Cheers!

Re: Google Nexus One Phone Review

Now this is a review if there is one I was looking out for, very nice effort and detail to attention Kid0. Now this sure deserves some reps
I think this phone is superb, the music quality not withstanding. the browser is very good and rom what I have heard, is that apart from Nokias browser, this is very capable of opening the https banking sites, and thats a plus from me.
The screen is superb, btw how did you take those screenshots?
I think the HD2 has a worthy competitor, I have tried the HD2 for a large time and its details are quite the same as for your views for Nexus One.
On a side note, I think this is the second phone I will wait for to have.

Nice review!
I feel sad that T-Mobile doesnt have 3G coverage in my area.
On top of that the EDGE coverage is no good too.

Umm why don't you get the unlocked phone itself and use it with any provider? With a contract, you'll end up paying more than what the phone costs anyway.

@Kid0: Nice review!

Re: Google Nexus One Phone Review

It doesnt support the 3G band of any other networks! Remember?

In the case of the Nexus One, it uses the 900MHz, 1700MHz and 2100MHz frequency bands for 3G data and the GSM 850MHz, 900Mhz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz bands for 2G. Because the T-Mobile 3G network in the U.S. is listening for 3G data in the 1700MHz and 2100MHz bands, it’s the only U.S. network with which the Nexus One phone can communicate. AT&T’s 3G network listens for phones transmitting 3G traffic in the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, which the Nexus One cannot do.
