Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 OR ASrock 990FX Extreme4

hi,

i want to upgrade my system to AMDfx8350 piledriver cpu.
currently i am using amd phenom 965 with msi790fxgd70
main use will be 3dsmax 2012. i intend o overclock the CPU to 4.7-4.8 for 24/7 use.

i have finalized two above mentioned boards
so please suggest which one should i go with.

gigabyte 990fxa ud3
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 1.0)

or

asrock 990fx extreme 4
ASRock > 990FX Extreme4

and please critique this upgrade
I WILL ONLY USE THIS PC FOR 3DSMAX 2012 and will be rendering in mental ray , Vray.
Processor - AMD fx 8350 oced to 4.8ghz price RS12300
motherboard - (still have to decide between the two mentioned above ) - price RS10000

total - RS 22300
i have rest of the components.

later this year i will be upgrading to quadro 4000 for 48k. so if i can save some cash now , i can use it afterwards.
as i have seen in reviews the performance is comparable to i7 3770k
for example if i render a frame in 1hour on 3770k , it will take 1hour 10 minutes on fx8350
so if get my frame 10 minutes late and can save almost like rs 12700
i prefer saving my bucks.

so guys please pour in you suggestions.

I'd go for this. Based on some instances I have heard of, GB boards haven't quite measured up to expectations in many cases. ASrock on the other hand, has done consistently well in the last 2 years making very good boards and winning the faith of the community. They are very good VFM boards and are feature rich.

The cooling fan over the mosfets on the Extreme 4 is very appealing and ideal for 24/7 OC usage. Along with it, the board ships with a USB Front panel in case your case does not have one.

PS: Depending on when you upgrade, if you decide to sell the 965 BE I'd like to call dibs on it.

+1 for ASRock

Digicare handles the RMA and service for ASRock in India. They are quite good from my experience. My ASRock Fatal1ty 990fx ended up being bricked by a corrupt BIOS. My dealer took me to their service centre, and I had my motherboard back within 15 mins with a fresh BIOS installed. No hassles and they were very professional.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

Then quit. There's no point in being a damn fool about it.
