Fed-up with Indicom

Hi friends,

I'm facing this annoying problm with a new (one month old) Tata Indicom
Broadband conn.

The conn details are as follows:

Connection Type : Wimax

Receiver : Telsima

PoE box : PowerDsine 3000

Plan : 384 kbps unlimited (although Tata skillfully mentions it as unlimited, it's actually 80Gb/month since they have implemented Fair Usage Policy.) Also, what I have is a Dynamic IP.

Problem :

Suppose i've given some downloads at around 12 at night and gone to sleep, when
i check in the morning i realise that sometime during the night i've lost the
connection (my internet session has terminated).

When i spoke to Indicom about this, the following is what they said:

"You have to physically use ur system...like open some windows...move the mouse..etc etc ....if u dnt do any such acivity in 4-5hrs..ur internet session gets terminated automatically and u have to connect again to the internet"

This problm is eating my head out, since i queue up downloads using CryptLoad and go to sleep or office. Mostly the first file in queue gets downloaded. By the time it starts doin the second file, the connection has gone.

Is there any way to bypass this stupid Indicom policy???

Any such way by which, in my absence, i can keep some kind of user-action goin on in my system apart from the download activity???

Frnds...plz help...since i'm already thinkin of givin up this conn and gettin BSNL.

Thanks in advance,
Pappu.

Wow, these are new heights of bullocks called as fair usage policy. Hey btw you are not alone we Airtel people are facing this stupidity.

I wish I was insanely rich, I would have sued these ISPs .

Well I think you can try to use it from linux, no dialer sheeet.

Re: Fed-up with Indicom

Why is life so tough evn with the simplest of services in our country?? ...sumthing as simple as a basic internet connection...

No offenses meant frnds.....but evn a basic internet service from a privatized company isn't user-friendly....full of hidden policies.

Re: Fed-up with Indicom

yea its the same thing with reliance.. get an autologin script from the india broadband forums.

in addition to the autologin script, while i was downloading at night, id leave a cmd window with the code below on. it makes sure the connection doesnt get interrupted.

Code:
ping www.google.com -t

I've tried running batch file with content like this....didnt help...the internet session still gets terminated.

Rite now....trying to see if a clicker app does the trick.

Will also try to get hold of an autologin script...

Re: Fed-up with Indicom

What is the difference between pinging google.com and putting a download overnight?
They are same, network activity going on that's it.

I do not think Tata guys check for network connectivity, it has to do with mouse movements for sure.

Re: Fed-up with Indicom

We had a similar problem in school, when the thin clients would auto-logout after a certain period of inactivity.
We solved it by putting the mouse over a clock. The second hand moves, the mouse moves, you don't get logged out.
Dunno if your case needs *movement* or a click, but give it a shot?
