Asus Crosshair IV Formula MainBoard Preview
Introduction

Asus launched the first of the Republic of Gamers (ROG)series for the AMD platform way back in 2007, calling it the Asus Crosshair for the AM2 platform and basing it on the Nvidia nForce 590 chipset. The second in the series was the Asus Crosshair II Formula, which was based on the Nvidia 780a chipset. The third in the series is the Crosshair III Formula and this time Asus did the smart thing and ditched the Nvidia chipsets. They went ahead with the brand new 790FX chipset and made one of the best overclocking and feature rich boards for the AM3 platform.

The ROG series has always been the top end of the Asus line up of motherboards and the Crosshair III lived up to its pedigree. Today, we have the opportunity to take a quick look at Asus Crosshair IV Formula, which is the latest iteration in the legendary series of AMD based ROG boards.

Re: Exclusive Preview of the Asus Crosshair IV Formula

You have raised my expectations of the final review, I will be waiting for sure, Good work there mav2000.
I have to ask you the following, you stated that there are 6 sata III ports and 1 sata II port... so will the Sata III ports not support the Sata II ?
Then you stated that the board uses a 8 pin EATX power connector, the picture only shows a 4 pin .
Please mention the price or the approximate price too.

SATA 3 is backwards compatible with SATA 2 devices. The 8-pin connector on the board has 4 pins covered.

Re: Exclusive Preview of the Asus Crosshair IV Formula

Price is around USD 200 in the US, but taking into account the indian price of the CH III it should be around 13-14k.

Re: Exclusive Preview of the Asus Crosshair IV Formula

Naw, google shows >$240. Considering the Crosshair II Formula goes for about $200 now, that would make sense.
