ESET NOD32 Antivirus 6 Review
Antivirus - the term brings back dreadful memories of Norton and McAfee. The times I've spent in my machine, trying hopelessly to make it respond after a virus scan gripped it to halt. Even our beloved Kaspersky had a notoriety of not fully uninstalling itself from the PC even after you deleted every single file, made changes to the registry etc. etc.

Painful days.

So when I was asked to review an antivirus, I was a little edgy. Reviewing it is a little trickier than other software. You generally don't intend to put in a virus in your system to see how efficiently this monitoring and cleaning software catches it. It's not that simple.

My interaction with NOD32 goes quite a time back. My higher secondary days were spent mostly in reading tech magazines like Chip and Digit, and their free DVD had all sorts of software in them. NOD32 was quickly discovered by me on one such occasion where I searched for something which didn't hog my system like Norton and McAfee. I came away with favorable impressions of the original antivirus, and thought it offered a nice solution.

That said, we have the newest iteration of NOD32 Antivirus in our hands now, and it deserves a look. How does it fare in this populated world of Internet Securities and Antivirus and Anti Spyware solutions? Let's take a quick look.

Nice wa y and substance of writing a review mate !! @ChironX although I have checked the new Kaspersky on my Win 8 installation ! I was thouroughly disappointed by it using too many cpu cycles and then I installed Nod 6 on that same machine and the cpu cycles were surely normal, as for usage I am using it for many many years now and have never been disappointed by it.

^ Thanks Manish da, yes I also found the system usage quite low for an antivirus, which is quite good. I use the Kaspersky, and it is fine with my Windows 7, but yes they have been notorious along with McAfee and Norton about being complete hogs when it comes to the scans etc.

Excellent stuff there @ChironX. Using it and I must say I'm quite satisfied. Its very light on the CPU unlike Kaspersky and bitdefender(though i think they are better) and the scanning is very fast. Eset for me is a lightweight champion

I think everyone needs this as its fast, lightweight and so super at catching and protecting !!
the problem is todays world of torrenting and sharing stuff !! pen drives are the main carriers of contamination that's why.

Everyone doesnt run torrents or share files with "infectious" people. Caution, safe practices and commonsense are needed even with the best av installed. I find avast free version to be enough for most people.

Agree with it and a simple auto run turn off can save lot of trouble
I have been using kaspersky for a long time and used avira and avast on my sister PC but out of curiosity gave nod32 a shot but it deleted my games patches and I had to redownload them .... bad at lest it should ask before deleting

Now I am back with kasper
