Re: DVD Media Quality Scans

This is a scan for the top most disk from a spindle of Verbs a few months back

1 spindle i.e 50 disks later, top most disk, same media code (silver) colored Verbatim DVD+Rs

This is a scan for the top most disk from a spindle of Verbs I got today

A very pathetic scan (media manufactured March 2009)

Both spindles bought from MediaHome

Needless to say, the quality of Verbs has gone down from good to pathetic.

My 2 year old "Unique" DVD-R gives similar scans yet they cost half what the Verbs cost (Rs. 320/- for a 50 pack)

No more Verbs for me in the near future

well, buy drives. optical media is very risky.

Re: DVD Media Quality Scans

my 4 year old dvds still work flawlessly. I won't ever bother saving video content on my hard disks.

btw, just had a coaster. This is the first coaster in many YEARS. Even the oft maligned Writex and Unique media didn't give me one.
End of the line for Verbs for me grrr...

Re: DVD Media Quality Scans

no, Writex / Unique. Writex cost Rs. 400/50 pack and Unique costs Rs. 320.
Max PIF doesn't cross 6 even in those and they never gave me a coaster. I get on an average a 90 score on those (varies from 85-95). Since even a scratched video disk doesn't matter much, I stick to backing up my mkvs on optical media. Magnetic media is simply too expensive to backup videos.

btw, look at the scan quality of my Epson (thats on its lowest setting, resized to 50% of the original image )
