Corsair Carbide 400R -- No Name Yet

My first worklog (YAY!)

Not much of stuff to show off at the moment, but yes some cable management and white LED fans to start with. Will add more white stuff later as I progress.

My current hardware:

Intel Core i7-2600K, running at 3.4 GHz stock but modest overclock of 4.5 GHz on stock voltage/cooler(stable).
ASUS Maximus IV Gene Z
4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM
HIS AMD Radeon HD6870 ICEQX edition, 920/1120 MHz Core/Memory clocks
Western Digital 250 GB + Seagate 1 TB HDD

Corsair Carbide 400R
Silverstone Air Penetrator AP-121WL Fans

Image sneak peek: This is with 2 of the AP fans installed.

Temps are hovering around 40 degrees for the GPU (understandable due to no side intake), but 33 degrees for the CPU at full load ( I didn't run Prime, but installed and ran Crysis 2 with all mods and tessellations for GPU and Starcraft 2 for CPU load).

Future want-to's:

Your comments would be highly appreciated.

More coming soon.

My first suggestion would be:
Better pics! ;O
The AP's look nice can you please post a better one?
Also cost per fan?

Nice start dude, I would love to see the acrylic side mod that you want to accomplish. if you set your mind to it, it wont be that hard, just have to cut acrylic properly...

I got the graphics card from overclockers zone. and it cost me a little over 13k.

And the fans came over from theitdepot, the white ones in your link. Two of them cost me a cool 2k (Silverstone products are damn costly). I initially saw the APs in action with Silverstone Fortress FT02 (Ah, what a case!!) and fell in love with them. So bought two of them to see for myself. The fan blows air like anything, I can hold my hand 2 feet above the case and still feel a chill of them moving air. And they move air in a vertical column.

And, as for the pics, here are some better ones that I took today :

First up front :

Cable management - not that nifty, but a definite improvement over my last attempts.

A closer look to the fan assembly:

And now, a shot with everything on:

And the case front, as always:

More pics to be added later. Now, have a question or two about the side window. I am going to buy a dremel next month and try my hands out on modding it myself. How do I get the acrylic shaped up like that bend? I have never used a heat gun and I don't want to ruin everything. Does anyone have any suggestions on that?

Second, etching..can it be done via dremel itself?

Third, I am planning to buy a Antec Kuhler 920/ Corsair H100/ Intel RTS2011LC for better CPU heat management and low noise, but I am not sure whether I can have a push/pull setup for something as big as H100 in this case. Can I fit the H100 in front of the case(would look weird, I have seen someone try this in a CM Storm Scout case).

Is it possible to get hold of one of the Maingear Epic180 coolers?

Any suggestions/criticisms are welcome.

Thank you.

P.S How can I get something like this?

Re: Corsair Carbide 400R -- No Name Yet

Route the front IO cables through the back only and not through the 5.25" bay.
And as for the last pic you need to get a NZXT Sleeved LED kit.

Re: Corsair Carbide 400R -- No Name Yet

Well, have a lot of ambitious plans for this one. Let's see, I'll attach a sketch or two.

Was thinking of some random stuff and this came to my head. This can accommodate the push pull configuration of something as big as H100 or SVGTech HOC 40. A clear acrylic sheet with fan grills/design holes will cover the outside fans.

wingzero, NAV33N, Jaydip and 1 others like this.

Re: Corsair Carbide 400R -- No Name Yet

believ me bro, acryllic is hard to bend. you need two jigs.

after that, its pretty easy though.

i designed a shroud for my comp, but cant make it because of lack of tools.

Not really. If you have a heat gun its kinda easy. It is however easier to bend a piece that stretches over 4 inches on each side of the bend than 4 inches on one side and 1/2 or 1 inch on the other.

hmmm..who has a jig and a heat gun?

Also, this might require 2-3 sheets right?
