Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Review

Introduction

Hello all and welcome back to my never ending quest to find the best air cooling solutions from across the globe. Today we have in our hands a new concept in air cooling called the Coolink Corator DS. I would like to thank Kolink International for sending us the cooler.

Kolink International Corporation is a cooling specialist established in 1996 and well known amongst industry insiders. Through the years, Kolink has designed and manufactured many top-performing heat-sinks, under various different brand names. An experienced R&D team and ultra-modern production plants in Taiwan ensure continuous progress, efficient manufacturing conditions and strict quality standards.

Kolink's retail brand Coolink stands for an effective conjunction of no-frills performance, excellent quality and attractive pricing. While Coolink has held a strong presence in the South East Asian markets ever since the late 90's, it was not until 2005 that the brand was introduced to the European market on a large scale. After the launch of Coolink-Europe.com in late 2005, Coolink has quickly become a well recognized brand for high-quality cooling components.

As many of you may remember there was a lot of buzz around this particular cooler a few weeks ago considering the new base setup that the company had worked on. Well, it looks like the new idea does work well, but we will get to that laer in the review. First, let's take a look at the specifications:

Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Specifications
Socket compatibility : Intel LGA1366, LGA1156, LGA775 & AMD AM2, AM2+, AM3 (backplate required)
Mainboard compatibility : Compatibility
Height (with fan) : 155 mm
Width (with fan) : 140 mm
Depth (with fan) : 121 mm
Weight (with fan) : 1040 gm
Material : Copper (base and heat-pipes), aluminium (cooling fins)
Fan size : 120 x 120 x 25 mm
Fan : Coolink SWiF2-120P
Bearing : high-performance hydro-dynamic bearing
Rotational Speed : (+/- 10%) 800 - 1700 RPM
Airflow : 60.4 - 127.6 mł/h
Acoustical Noise : 8.5 - 27.1 dB/A
Scope of Delivery : Heatsink, SWiF2-120P Fan, Mounting Hardware (SecuFirm™2 for AMD & Intel), Thermal Paste, English Manual
Warranty : 5 years
.

There are a couple of things that stand out from the list above:

1. This is a complete package with all the necessary mounts thrown in
2. You do not need to buy a fan
3. All-copper base and heatpipes
4. At over a kilo in weight, it's heavy!

The first two points have been a major point of contention, as most top coolers come without the AMD mounting system or a packaged fan. Coolink's approach in a way is pleasing - they follow Noctua's method and believe in providing a complete package rather than than selling individual components based on requirements.

Great review. Shows that dual-tower coolers have a serious advantage over single-tower designs. It's up to the manufacturers to tweak them to get maximum performance.

Really amazing looks and performance. I only hope its not so heavy that it bends the board.

Re: Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Review

Great Review ! Good thing is it is been compared with one of the liquid cooling and the test results show that liquid cooling is not the definitely the best way for cooling and even air coolers can accomplish it. As Corsaire H 50 results does not look promising .
Any ways fantastic review and cooler , but Mav I am alwyas suggesting Hyper 212 Plus to many after your last review and my friends are happy with the suggestion.
In Coolink , can we attach 2 more fans or may be one more fan on the side ?

Re: Coolink Corator DS CPU Cooler Review

It is possible to attach more fans...I ran the tests with two fans, but the problem is there are no extra fan clips...so you will have to use zip ties or rubber bands.
