Constantly Updated List of Root-friendly Android Devices

public:root_friendly [RootWiki]

Very nice list - it might help those who want to buy based on root capability.

interesting to note is that all the new Xperia devices are extremely root friendly.

Sony is offering to Unlock the bootloader-online of their latest lineup given that you accept voiding your warranty.

Re: Constantly Updated List of Root-friendly Android Devices

I think this is worded a little wrongly. Rooting involves getting read/write access to the system partitions. Most, if not all phones get rooted. What the link in the OP is referring to is the modification/bypassing of the bootloader, to use custom kernels, recoveries, etc. The author of that link has really messed up his definition of rooting.

Haha you are joking. X8 and X10 suck. You dont wanna know the probs we are having with these pos right now. Also am completely dependant on XDA for 2.3 on these fones. Sony sucks am never getting another android based phone from them. no support = no future purchase. excuse my ranting.

^^ He is talking about new SE phones i.e. Xperia Arc, Neo & Play & not the old X8 & X10.

Re: Constantly Updated List of Root-friendly Android Devices

^ yeah I know. But these phones were "new" when sony refused to give updates. I seriously doubt they will give updates post 2.3.4. The unlocked booter is just another way of saying " now stop whining that our bootloader is difficult to hack and head over to XDA"
