Confused Between Laptop and Desktop

Hey.
I wanna basically buy a laptop for its mobility and comfort over PC.
But m confused for what should i buy.?
I want a laptop for gaming and entertainment purpose.
But that laptop should be such that it does not gets outdated for atleast 3-4 years and is able to play all the latest games then.
Suggest me some laptops according to the price category and powerful performance.
Also suggest me if a should go for a PC only instead of laptop or not?
ANd also this graphics card lineup is very confusing,so if u could throw some light on that also.

A lot of gaming laptops wouldnt be able to play many PC games at their highest settings eve now, so its unrealistic to expect them to play all the games 3-4 years down the line.

How much are you willing to spend on this gaming laptop/desktop btw?

Re: Confused Between Laptop and Desktop

If you want a simple everyday PC,laptop is a better choice. But if you want max performance out of 50k,desktop it is.also much easier to upgrade the graphics 3-4 years down the line.

A 50k laptop wont be able to play "play all the latest games" at the highest settings even now.

Are you into gaming now or do you intend to start gaming after buying your new PC? Do you have a list of games that you want to play on this? Four years from now your PC will probably be able to play latest versions of Candy Crush Saga but not the latest version of Battlefield.

comfort over PC.
Secondly regarding comfort, a full desktop PC is more comfortable with a large keyboard, monitor and space to move around.

> Get a desktop.
Nothing can replace that experience, feel & the horsepower of a full fleghed desktop PC.

> Get a laptop only and ONLY if you're going to hostel for studies (where they don't allow you a desktop PC) or going abroad.
Other than that, getting a laptop mainly for gaming is worthless.
A desktop for 50k will be 2 to 3 times powerful and as well as futureproof that it's counterpart laptop at 50k!
Forget 4 years, they even can't run BF4 MP at Ultra/High with decent frames with 64 players running around you.
So, yeah

Re: Confused Between Laptop and Desktop

Its true .... Desktop's will have much better processing power for that price ...
Besides , you can always upgrade your desktop ...

But then...desktops are cumbersome to use and carry...
U can't take them to ur frnds house to play games on lan.. Or when ur on a trip or something or anywwhre for that matter...

If gaming is ur main motive....then why not get a console?
Theyr muccchhh cheaper...

Also like then what would i need to spend on it to upgrade it and what would probably be needed to upgrade?

Re: Confused Between Laptop and Desktop

You said it yourself.
Your requirements are clear: want gaming + entertainment!
For that desktop is a much better option.
Any yes, upgrading your desktop is easy as anything. And that's where it's partitions itself from a laptop.
Apart from RAM & HDD, you can't really upgrade your laptop (apart from exceptions where they let to add another GPU via ultra bay in SLI).

So, make your move now.

Desktop = full freedom on hardware components , choose your own power full parts with cheaper price !! you don't need to compromise on anything while buying and if you can't buy all at once you can upgrade slowly like by 4GB RAM now and add another one when you have money....

from the above post of your's, I see you badly need a desktop !! go for it...

you can but you should buy the second card soon . if you thinking buying after 2 -3 years then don't go with this option.. !!
Instead save some money and purchase good card later at your convenience.

Exactly!
SLI/CFX is not worth it if your going to add another GPU wayy later. It's good, if you plan to add up within an year.

So, tell us your total budget for the PC.
And are you going to OC?

Actually my total budget is around 50000 rs.
Also if i inlcude the monitor in that what would be the configuration,and without monitor what would it be?
also tell me that if including the monitor would compromise with the configuration,then on which part should i compromise and add it later after 2-3 years,but be able to play latest and heavy games.

Okay.
So, here are my suggestions:

With Monitor:

FX6300= 6.8k

Asus M5A97 R2.0= 6.7k

Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB 1600mhz= 2.4k

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB= 3k

Cabby: Antec V1= 2.5k (VFM case for the price with 1x USB3 port)

GPU: Zotac/MSI/Galaxy GTX760 2GB= 19k

PSU: Seasonic ECO 600= 4k

Asus 24x DVD RW= 1k

Monitor: Dell IN2030M 20" LED= 6k

TOTAL= 51.4k

Without Monitor:

FX8320= 10k

Asus M5A97 R2.0= 6.7k

Kingston HyperX Blu 4GB 1600mhz= 2.4k

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 500GB= 3k

Cabby: Antec V1= 2.5k

GPU: Sapphire R9-280X DualX 3GB= 22.5k

PSU: Seasonic ECO 600= 4k

Asus 24x DVD RW= 1k

TOTAL= 52.2k

As you can see that including the monitor lowers both the CPU & GPU.
Let's assume you include the monitor. Still then, you'd be getting a powerful rig capable of running every game for the next 3 years atleast (even Witcher 3) at that res of 1600x900.
And if you keep aside it, then, well, you can already picture it by yourself now.
So, yeah

And if you want to upgrade your rig after 3 years? Well, that depends on how much you're willing to spend then, and the requirements.
That's quite a bit of stretch if you think about that now.
